I had a cat when I was younger, and I remember that he loved the occasional cat nip. I was pretty young so I don't remember how my parents gave it to him. I am getting a kitten on Wednesday, and I bought all of the basic supplies today. How do you give a cat cat nip? Do you put it in a toy, or just let them eat it? TYIA!

well, there are many uses for catnip.you can stick it in a cloth and tie the top, or you can buy toys that are already stuffed with catnip. I use lots of different toys for my cats.theres everything from cloths with catnip in it, to catnip bubbles. catnip can be eaten by cats. they're not supposed to eat it, but it won't affect it if they do consume it...I hope I helped...good luck!

i knew these cats that liked to cook up some friskies and they'd get so wasted they couldnt even find their own litter while standing in it. ah but catnip, well its a total body drug. personally I like to nibble a bit. first I get a liitle buzz from it and the world seems pretty cool. then I eat a little more and my vision becomes blurred but my senses heighten. Then I start meowing gibberish sort of like the village drunk. Then I close my eyes for a minutes and try to sort out things. Then I think "hey this 'nip aint working" so I eat some more. Meanwhile my master is saying "How much you want kitty"
and I"m like "ALL OF IT *****. then POW!! suddenly I have no control of my body and I race thru the living room like a raped ape. Up the curtains then down just lookin for a way out.
Hell even the dog keeps his distance when I am high on the nip. I love the stuff.

Cats do not get any effect from cat nip until they are 9 mos or so as I remember. Put it on a scratching post or in a toy. I planted some in my mum's garden and the neighborhood cats have rubbed it down to almost nothing. For humans it can be used as a calming tea.

There's tons of cat toys that have cat nip inside, it's endless. From cat nip mouses to cat nip sleeping mats. Another good way to give it to your cat is to sprinkle a light layer on your cats scratching post, they love it.

I assume you are talking about cat n i p ? (The word has been blocked by Yahoo.) Most kittens won't respond to it until they are 6 months old or more. Try using the oil sprayed on a cat tree or sprinkling a bit on his bed. You can buy toys with it inside.

I put catnip and all the cat toys in a bag and leave it for a day or two. After that everything smells or tastes of catnip and the cats go crazy.

You can knot a little inside a thin sock and let her play with it - or once a week sprinkle a little on the floor or on a scratching box. My cats love the loose kind. They roll in it, eat it, get crazy for a while and then fall asleep. I heard that you shouldn't do it too often though.

You can do several different things to give it to him/her. Put it in a toy made for it. You can rub it on a scrathcing post or something of that nature. this helps especially when trying to show the kitten where it is o.k. to scratch. Or you can jus give it to the kitten in your hand or in a bowl...just a pinch tho.

I have a toy that I put catnip in. I also sprinkle it on their cat scratchers, to encourage them to scratch that and not my woodwork ;)
