Have a phone number and address handy for the closest emergency vet. And remember the phone call is always free. Save up some money just in case.
I hope you never have to use it! :-)

I agree, a good cat care book is super helpful for all sorts of questions. In the instance of a cat fight never put your hands into it. You will be very sorry. Throw a bucket of water on them. That always seems to do the trick. Don't pick up a cat after a cat fight. They can turn on you not knowing who you are at the moment. If your cat is bleeding badly, try to throw a towel over it then try to safely wrap the towel around the cat leaving the head exposed so he can breathe. This will calm the cat down and keep him from fighting with you. Then call the vet for an emergency appointment. Cat's rarely choke on anything. Don't feed him chicken bones. That they can choke on as the bone splinters and gets caught in their throats. And in general if your cat starts to act strange or has out of the ordinary behavior call a vet and get an appointment. It's better to get a professional opinion on health issues.

Getting prepared is a good thing to do.
The first thing to remember when trouble arises is don't panic.
Keep you vet's phone number handy. Also keep Aspca Animal Poison Control Center Hotline handy. It is (888) 426-4435. A $55 consultation fee may be applied to your credit card.
Before trying to help the cat that is choking make sure it is not a hairball coming up. The following link should help.

Cat Fight
My cats will sometimes get involved in horseplay. If I think it is going to get out of hand I intervene by calling out to them. I would not do this if they were really involved in a fight.

I've never dealt with a bleeding cat but this looked like good information. Keep basic first aid supplies such as gauze, tape, and a clean towel-to hold the cat still if necessary.
Bleeding Cat

You can get first aid kits for pets. You may want to look at some to see what they can so that you can make sure you have those supplies on hand.
I would also suggest you join cats groups online. There is a wealth of information and fun to be had there. Good luck with the kitten.

if your cat starts to choke, im not really sure what you can do about it. but open up its mouth and see if you can see what it's choking on. if you can see it, you should probably pull it out, or if it looks like it will do more damage if you pull it, go immeadiately to a clinic or vet hospital. if your cat gets sick, as in pukes, it is usually ok. if your cat goes outdoors, sometimes they eat grass and that makes them vomit. but if your cat is doing that a lot, you should take it to a vet. some cat fights are not very serious and will stop on their own. but if your cat gets in an ongiong, violent fight, you could try breaking it up by making a loud, sudden noise from a safe distance away to break their concentration. if that dosn't work, throw something noticeable near the fighting cats. if THAT doesn't work, splash a cup or so of water on the cats. if the cats stop fighting, grab your cat by the scruff, and support its butt before lifting, hold it securely, still grabbing its scruff and put it inside. if it is bleeding badly, supply a box lined with towels or something where your cat can hide and lick its wounds until you can get it to a vet.

When he is choking a simple himlick manuver would work. If he is sick take himto the vet obviously. If he gets in a fight spray him with water and search the body for wounds. If he is bleeding badly, if it is not TOO bad put neosporn on it and let it heal itself, but if it needs stiches hold a towel over the wound and take him emidiatly to the vet.

This is more than 1 question, but for the fight (assuming it's outside) turn the hose on them to break it up, so you don't get scratched. If it's bleeding bad, take a 1st aid course or if not horribly bad take it to the vet.

Kudos to you for caring so much about your pet.
PetSmart has a book called "Caring for Cats" that answers a wide variety of questions and situations, and has health care advice.
I'm sure you can find one at Target or possibly on Ebay.
