Usually around 6-7 weeks before then they just aren't ready for hard solids. With my kittens, I always fed them baby food and jars of pureed chicken or beef baby food. Gerber Rice Cereal mixed with a little warm milk (one box will last you forever.) is especially handy before bed because full tummies equal a good night's rest.

Make sure you feed them kitten chow when you start them on dry food. Kittens need extra nutrients that adult food doesn't have. Plus, it's much easier for them to digest.

Try offering canned kitten food at about 4 weeks. Kittens will usually help themselves to food by 6 weeks.

No earlier than 3 weeks. At 3 weeks the intestinal tract is mature enough to digest some solid material. Weaning should take place gradually, and by 6-8 weeks may be completed.
