I have a 3-4 year old cat that I had spayed as soon as I got her from the pound. She was just a kitten then. I recently brought home a new kitten that i'm not quite sure was finished nursing and at first my older cat (which rules the roost even with the dog) wanted nothing to do with the baby but now she cleans the kitten and the kitten seems to get some enjoyment out of nursing on the cat?? Is it possible that she is getting a motherly instinct and if so do you think she can still produce milk? (sorry if this is a stupid question) Thanks for your intelligent answers.

i have 5 cats..love them to pieces! they are my babies..well recently one of my babies passed away,he was only 1yrs old! he had a urinary tract infection but im thinking it might have been caused by something..i use candles, tarts and potporri constantly! 24/7. i also clean constantly and use strongly scented cleaning products..im wondering if any of these items can cause problems/issues for cats/pets? now im not thinking the soot from the candle is bothoring them..i do not use candles as much as i use tarts which create no soot ..im thinking maybe such a strong scent could effect them? i mean anybody who knows cats knows that thier sense of smell is very very powerful..so something strongly scented to us must throw thier sense of smell over the edge? if it indeed does bothor them could it create danger for them? your help is very much appreciated! i wont be able to call the vet until i get home from work.

I have a 9 months male persian kitten. He has been indoor most of the time. Lately, I frequently let him play outside at my porch for about 10-30 minutes a day. Most of the time at night. I watch him closely so that he can't jump into the small drain or bite some small frogs. (he done that before).

Can I do that since he is a indoor cat? Enlighten me please.

She is 12. She stayed out all night - not unusual for her. Came in at 7.30 by 8.00am she was just laying on the sofa almost limp and looked miserable. She was like this for a couple of days and suddenly was completely normal again.
She went out that night and again came home ill. She has done this constantly over the last month. Each time I decide to take her to the vet when I get home from work she is fine.
Any ideas anyone?

Momma cat started hanging around my yard back in May 2006, then in July I found she had 4 kittens in the warehouse next to my house. Finally trapped them all and they've been in the house since, with multiple checkups, shots, spaying, etc. and no one's ever attempted to return to the 'great out doors'. Lately, I've seen all of them staring out the windows and wonder if I should risk releasing them or just allow them to keep wondering about the world beyond. None of them ever tries to rush the outside door when it's open, but lately Momma has been acting VERY nasty to her kids. They're about 11 months old , and they only need to go within 1 foot of her body and she's rendering nasty growls to them. They never return them and usually just run for cover. I give Momma a stern name calling and she'll just turn to me and render the sweetest meow. On occasion she'll even run the kids off the bed if they attempt to join me OR her if she's up there alone. They aren't trying to nurse, just visit

I have another cat and they often bat at each other, but never extend their claws. The dog tries to play with the cat, she gets mad and bats at him. I *really* don't want to declaw her, but is there any other way to prevent her from injuring the dog again?

I have no idea how old they are. There are four of them, and we bathed them with a mild soap, because I figured thay are too young for flea shampoo. It killed some, but not all of them. There are probably about 50 fleas on each of these tiny babies. Any advice??

Also, what should we feed them? And do they drink Milk or Water?

with all the food recalls going on I'm scared giving them any comercial pet food, I know people breed mice for snakes, would it work for cats? I wouldn't feed them just mice, I'd give them fish occationally and supplement their food with multi-vitamins and offer grass for them to chew on. this might be a really stupid question but I was just wondering if it would work, what do you think?

About 3 months ago my 3 year old cat started to throw up 2 times a day. We took him to the vet and they thought that it might be an intestinal problem so they put him on prednizone (steriod) and an antibiotic. He got better and stopped throwing up. He went off the meds and was fine for one month when it started again. King went back to the vet and was put on prednizone and Science Diet i/d food. This worked- he threw up only 2 times in 20 days. Then we ran out of the food on the weekend when the vet was closed so I had to give him my other cat's food. He got VERY sick and dehydrated and went back to the vet. They gave him an IV, antibiotic, pepcid ac, did blood work (that came back completely normal) and they claim he was better. He came home and now he is very sick again. He has been back to the vet once for IV;now we are force feeding him and giving him water and gaterade (forced) because he won't eat, giving him pepcid and prednizone. What's wrong? They don't know...

My 2 year old male tabby cat is limping and i dont know why. He is an outdoor cat and my mom Was petting him earlier today and he was fine but then she left. an hour later he was on the porch sleeping i picked him up to put him in the house (i dont like him to be outside) I put him down but he would not let his back right leg on the ground so he just layed down. Now he is sleeping on the chair and he seems to be fine but i am really worried. What could have happened? Do you think its serious? I want to take im to the vet but its closed on sundays. I dont want to take him to the emergency vet because they are extremely expensive and it doesnt seem like an emergency. I was just wondering what people thought?

8 week old kitten; STRONGID T deworming medicine claims .1 cc per lb of animal. I have oral syringe in ML (CC=ML) but it says .25ml as the lowest dosage.

Kitten does have "normal" stool that has only a trace of blood, "fat" or swollen belly, and I saw the roundworms, also.

When will I see results and when should I give him another dose of the medicine?

Right, my cat is old I don't know how old as he is a stray that adopted me about 6 months ago. About an hour ago I came down the stairs to where he was, he started meowing furiously at me which is somewhat odd for him as he is rather layed back. I of course went and petted him checked he had food because I thought he might be hungry he followed me but I noticed he was shaking like he was really cold although it's certainly not cold in my kitchen. I have stayed with him for the last hour or so I am really concerned he is acting very oddly like he will come up to me and try and sit on me *He never does this* when I touch his tummy he hisses at me but then comes back over to me straight away wanting attention. He hasn't eaten anything unusually, he ate a new pack of food today but it's the normal brand we have. My problem is I don't know how to help him. I don't have a vets I can take him to, my mum and dad are on holiday, my gran and grandpa are on holiday, my sister is at work, I

I had a kitten and about two weeks ago she ran away. Im guessing she was living under the building next store with the racoons. Well this morning she showed up and im pretty sure the racoons, or whatever she was living with attacked her cause there are bite wounds on her back. Now If she has rabies do i have to have her put down? I dont even want to touch the cat at this point she is very dirty and im pregnant so i dont want to chance the rabies thing. But if she doesnt have to be put down can she still get the shots?
