I don't think there's anywhere to put out a cat trap (to take him to a no kill shelter). None of my friends have a heart enough to feed him, or can't for various reasons. Any suggestions?

I am adopting a cat. The people living in my home are hispanic and I would like to try to find a name that can be said and sound good in both english and with a spanish accent. An example would be Zazu. Zazu can be said with a spanish accent and not sound odd. A bad example would be Percy. If you say it with a spanish accent, it ends up sounding bad. I would name the cat Zazu, but my neighbor's cat has the same name and i would not like to copy it. The cat I am adopting is male. All answers are appreciated with the exception of those who reply "I don't know" or "I hate cats". A reminder.. the cat is a MALE. (boy)

I have a cat who does nothing but day dream about the outdoors and look through the window. I dont want her to be an outside cat because what happens if someone takes her or she gets hit by a car. But i also would like her to enjoy the outdoors sometimes. So do you just put your cat on a leash like a dog?

Ok, I know most of you will be cat lovers, but let me explain.
The fact that cats have to get attention (or anything) or their own time is quite annoying. I'll get home from work and once I sit down, one of our cats will come over to me meowing and looking happy to see me. If I simply let her walk over and (sometimes) jump into my lap, I can pet her no problem. If I try to get up and walk over to pet her, she runs away. Likewise, if I pick her up, she meows in fear and tries to get away. Later in the evening, regardless if I gave attention earlier, she'll pretty much run away no matter what. this involves hiding under the bed and hissing and swatting if you try to lure her out. WTF? I think this is why I like dogs better. Less moody and everything doesn't have to be on their own schedule, etc.

She was a stray that had to eat birds to survive, but I have had her now for 2 years and she still brings me birds - sometimes as many as three a day! She brings them to me at the back door alive and I have been ignoring her because I don't want to encourage her. But when I don't accept her offerings she sits down and eats them herself! She eats plenty of cat food, so she is not hungry. Any ideas?

Hey,

My cat just died and I have a question: Why do they twitch? My cat was on the ground twitching so my mom wrapped him in a blanket and he stopped and eventually died about 10 minutes later.

Why do cats twitch like that when dying?

My cat Gizmo swims in water and is not afraid of it. Why is a average cat afraid of water? My cat even likes it when I give him a flea bath.

How can I help my cat who I think has an UTI. my other cat Rosie had the same thing. I took her to the vet with a cost of $300.00. I just don't have the money right now to take Indy until 1.5 week. What can I give him until then?

My 8 yrs old neutered male cat is very amusing. He is tuxedo cat with a rather large apron (strangers confuse him for a pregnant/lactating female) His tail also curles outward if you pet him. When you observe this, it looks like a tree monkey's tail and is hillarious. Neither his spine nor his tail were ever injured and I took him to a vet for explanation. Conclusion is that he is just this way. Anybody has a cat with tail that swirls outward? What are your thoughts?

Yes, I ask a lot of cat questions....My kitten has decided that she likes water. She'll play in the toilet and jump in the bathtub to swim around. Therefore, spraying her with a water bottle doesn't really work anymore. What else can I do to make her stop bad behaviors? I'm specifically trying to keep her off of my counters...I have places for her to climb and I tried putting tinfoil on my counters, but it's not working. Please help!

Hi everyone! In a few weeks, I will be bringing home two kittens, one male and one female. I want to name them after famous male/female duos, from TV, movies, anything. I can't think of very many, so I need your help! Here are a few I've thought of so far:

Neo and Trinity
Bosco and Faith (I was a huge Third Watch fan...)
Bart and Lisa
George and Izzie

...And so on. You get the idea. Hit me with your suggestions! :)

Three questions here. I'm going to be blunt:

1. This is a small house, and the cats' poop is real stinky. It smells terrible when they go, worse than anything a human being can produce.

2. Cat litter is that scoop away stuff --- any way of deoderizing it even more? How often does the entire litter pan need to be changed?

3. Kitty number two seems to have a problem with passing gas. Any suggestions on how to cut down on the offensive odor?

--- Thank you very much for any help on my questions.

It started with a limp in the right front leg/paw. We did x-rays and found nothing. He then became lethargic and started hiding. He is now depressed, does not drink water and is only eating about one can of wet food a day (I do add water to the wet food). He still has about one bowel movement a day and urinates about 1 to 2 times a day. This cat does not eat outside animals never has only plays with them until they die. I also have four other cats and none of them are sick. They all eat the same thing. We did a stool sample; a urine sample and a complete blood panel all came back normal. This has been going on for about 2 1/2 to three months now. We just put him on depression medicine a few days ago but so far nothing. He has also started to express his adrenal glands and I don’t think he is doing it voluntarily. Any advice, thoughts or insights on this matter would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

I got some new food for them, hairball control. One of them got sick right after it ate it. You wouldn't believe the size of the hairball that came up, amazing it didn't choke to death!! Is this kind of food supposed to work like that and that fast??

My friend's cat was vomiting for 2 days and had diarrhea for 3-4 days after that. We gave him medication for diarrhea, because he told me he had changed his food, and I thought that was the problem. The diarrhea is improving a little, but then my friend casually told me that last week the cat had gone in the basement of the building. Then I realized he had been poisoned by something he ate at the basement, and I confirmed that because I went down there and found rat poison. We are going to the vet in an hour(when she comes in). The antidote is vitamin K1 and he will get it, but I wanted to know, if someone knows for sure, how the rat poison works. Do you think it could be in its system and it could be too late for the antidote to work? Or since the cat is improving (stopped vomitting and diarrhea is getting better) he has a chance? Or the improvement may be deceitful? Any experience on this?

My cat can't seem to decied if she likes to be inside or outside better. Well, not really. She never wants to stay inside. She paws at the door for us to let her in, then 5 minutes later she wants to go outside again. Sometimes she paws at the door and when I get to the door she runs away. What is going on with my cat?

she is a bengal cat and, i think, 11 years old. she hasnt been eating much lately. she has however, been drinking a lot of water, and when she throws up it is mostly water. she also looks like she has lost a pound or so, which is considerable for a cat, and seems to lack energy. any insight is greatly appreciated.

My three cats have suddenly been invaded by fleas. They were treated with Frontline plus 2 weeks ago, when the fleas came back a few days ago we treated them again. The fleas dont appear to be even slowing down/dying once they are on the cats. If I buy advantage or revolution will it hurt the cats to put it on again so soon? I am going to flea bomb the house but want to help my babies in the meantime

I adopted a 9 month old kitten- a week later she had a regular sneeze start up. She will be going to the vet tomorrow. The problem is I also own a 7yr. old cat who now has both eyes running constantly, (clear fluid) but no sneezing. The 7yr. old cat has never had any previous health problems. I read up that respiratory problems include sneezing and runny eyes as some of the symptoms. My question- is this true about respiratory problems and what are some ways to avoid both cats getting each other sick?
