At first, my husband and I didn't want to declaw my cats, but it's getting very dangerous for us because one of them will get us in the face sometimes, and will not let us trim their claws either, plus when ever we have children down the road, we want them to be safe, and be able to play with them without getting hurt like we have already, and many times in the three years we've had them.

My cat stays inside every day but goes out at night. Almost 2 times a week we hear this big meowing and hissing and hear our cat fighting with another cat. Our cat is a girl and gets scared and gets beat up and shaken up in these fights. We know where the other cat lives. Should we tell our neighbors to do somthing to this cat? What should we do so this doesn't happen again? Thanks for your help!!

I'm a dog person, and have never even held a cat until last December, so i don't know much about these animals at all.

We rescued a stray who is now about 8 months old, and he's really REALLY playful. For the last couple months, he's been panting a lot, usually after running around for a few hours straight. And sometimes he wheezes or goes into coughing fits, and starts breathing really hard. We asked the vet, and they said he's fine, but I'm still kinda worried about him. I read that cats can start panting after they play a lot, or when it gets really hot outside. But the wheezing and coughing just doesn't seem like something to ignore.

Any thoughts?

Whats the best solid food to introduce the kitten to? Whats the best way to do this? I've tried to feed him out of a little lid, but he sucks the edge and when it gets too low to suck, he sniffs the formula and freaks out (it's cuteee) but I want him to be on schedule. Please help! Thanks!

I left my cat with some friends for a week when I went on vacation. I recently returned to my cat not acting the same at all. He is way jumpy now and doesn't come to his name. He seems scared of everyone and everything. What happen to him? My friends say he was fine and they didn't hurt him or anything. They did put him a closet for punishment for 15 mins one night.. would this cause his behavior? Will he ever be the same? What can I do for him?? I want my kitty back... Thank you all for your help..

Last time I took my cat, a calico, to the vet she was being uncooperative (of course) and as the vet dragged her hissing out her carrier she commented to the asssistant, "Yup, she's a real calico."

I forgot to ask her what she meant. Do calicos in particular have a reputation for being cranky or something?

Spraying water at him and one brand of anti-cat furniture spray doesn't seem to work. One area rug and a sofa wrecked so far.

I have 2 cats and both of them get uneasy everytime I try to cut their nails. In our house, it is a two man job. While I cut, someone else has to feed them treats to keep them distracted. However, lately nobody is willing to help me with this.

Is there another (and easier) way to do this?

My cat has 3 kittens that are 4 weeks old. Before having them she always did her no 2's outside. But now, even though she goes outside she always does her no 2's in the litter box and makes a right mess with it, IT IS FOUL! The smell makes me heave and it lingers all through the flat, Im changing her litter box 3 times a day spending a fortune on airfreshner, shake 'n' vac and plug ins! It is embarrasing when people come round because all you can smell is cat sh*t! Other than that she is spotlessly clean.

Anyone else had this problem and what did you do about it?

I have a cat, Chloe, that had her first litter of kittens at the end of June last year. So they're almost a year old now, but I only kept one of the kittens. Chloe's an outdoor cat because she got to where she wanted to run outside all the time. The kitten I kept, Peter Panda (female), was indoors until she suddenly started peeing everywhere, she didn't have an illness or anything, though. She's been outside for about 2 months, and Chloe's been hissing at her and making a growling sound and attacking her. Is it normal for mother cats to do this to their kittens when they're older? I'm worried she'll chase Peter Panda away and that she won't come back, is that what she's trying to do?

She's not pregnant. She's a small cat that is not overweight but her stomach feels like a soft ball in size and firmness. When looking at her from above you can see the outline of her stomach looks bigger than it should. She also seems a bit sensitive to the touch. Any (serious) ideas on what this could be? She does have FIV...could it be constipation?

Any (sincere) information would be appreciated.

Thank you!

I have a one year old female cat who we got fixed when she was about 3-4 months old. Now her tummy hangs about 3 inches down. My guess is that she weighs about 8lbs. She's not overweight or anything. Is this normal for a fixed female cat?? thanks.
