My cat has been missing for 2 days and I saw a coyote in the area earlier today.

Yes they definitely do, there is a saying here in vermont "if a coyote is around, a cat will never be found." It is really sad but very true. Coyotes are ugly , nasty animals. They prey on any and everything.

Yes they do!!
Where I live we have lots of coyotes and they will eat baby pigs also. I would never never have a pet outside in the first place!!
If your cat was anywhere close to the coyotes I would be worried. If you see one there are more than one.
Hope you find your cat. At least go looking for it. The cat could be hurt and not be able to get back home.

Yes, coyotes do eat cats sometimes. Hawks will eat cats too.
But it also entirely possible that your cat is still okay and is just out somewhere. After all, there are many farms in the country with coyotes and hawks all around, and they manage to keep cats. (Although color has something to do with it too. White cats don't last long on farms, darker cats, like black and tabby, tend to do better because they're not as easy to see.)

Unfortunately, yes. Where I live people know that leaving their cats out, especially at night, means they are coyote food. I live in an urban area.

Yes they do. I live in the area were the coyotes will jump the fence and kill the dogs or even cats in peoples yards. Thats why I don't have my cat outside.

the only thing coyotes wont eat are things that are already dead . coyotes only eat fresh kills . I doubt a coyote got close enough to your place to catch your cat . Most likely a chicken hawk or a red tailed hawk. Could be your cat has just run off anyways. it will return soon . good luck.

Um...They can, but if your cat has claws the coyote probably wouldn't want to get its nose removed by attempting to eat it.
