My dad is allergic to cats, but he says if I can find a breed he isn't allergic to, i might be able to get one. what kind of breeds are there that are hypoallergenic, and not pricy? I know about siberian cats, but they sell for around $1,000 at lowest.

My beloved cat Maxine just died a few hours ago and I'm still crying. I got her as a stray from a neighbor when she was a few months old and we bonded immediately. She always made me and the rest of my family laugh and she loved to play hide n seek indoors and outdoors.
This morning around 5am I hear her screaming and I found her in a corner of a room yelping in pain. Before I could take her to the vet she was gone. She was only 4 years old. How do I cope? Any advice would be helpful. Thanks =(

i have 3 cats, 2 female 1 male. one of the females has started to hiss at the male for no apparent reason. she started this after we moved house, but only does it now and again. they are all a similar age and have lived together since they were kittens. she also paces the room, but only if she is in the front room. all the cats have been checked by the vet and are in good health (all neutered). we spend alot of time with the cats, they have plenty toys and lots of room to run so i can't put it down to boredom. can anyone help?

Yesterday I was in my front yard watering flowers when suddenly I noticed my next door neighbors 2 big dogs chasing after my little cat it was horrible. I had to get in between them and her. The Rotweiller had her in his mouth and was shaking her violently.Thankfully, the dog only lightly hurt me in the process. I rushed my kitten to the vet and she said her lungs were full of blood and she was dying, so I asked the vet to put her to sleep. I talked to my neighbor and he apoligized. I am not angry at them,I think it was just a tragic accident, but still I don't feel safe living at my home anymore, and besides I had 2 other kittens who I am afraid those dogs might have killed a few yrs ago. I have other cats I try to keep them inside but sometimes they get out. I don't want to feel anxious all the time if they get out accidently. I want to move. But I am not so sure my family agrees. How should I approach them with this ideal? Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

But she loves to claw at my couches, leaving scratch maeks and holes all over..... any ideas on how to get her to stop?? Is there such a thing as some sort of spray for the furniture to keep her from scratching..or is it supposed to keep them away entirely??

Hello everyone

I was wondering whether any of you knew how to deter my cat from scratching my bedroom door at 5am everyday. I've tried those sticky strips on my door but he's not bothered by them. I've also tried keeping my door open but he makes so much noise that I can't sleep!! I also live in a flat and so can't keep him downstairs or out in the garden overnight.

He's 10 months old now and I've run out of ideas.....

Any suggestions would be appreciated - thanks :)

We have a cat that stays outside. She had babies about 2 weeks ago and we have still not found them. I am wondering if they even lived at this point. She stays gone most of the time but comes back morning and night to eat. Her breasts (are they called that on kitties??) are not big like what you see on dogs but the fur is being worn off around them. Should they be swollen and saggy like a mama dog? Do you think the kittens lived based on the way the fur is matted and missing from around her nipples? This is our first experience with a mama cat so any advice is definitely helpful!!

My Cat has been gagging off and on for the last 24 hours. He throws up a little white foam but does not throw up his food.I think he may have a hairball but he hasn't thrown a hairball up. He is also cranky and not himself. Do you think he does have a hairball? if he does, what to do about it?

This is only when I am trying to sleep, usually in the early morning hours. He will climb on me and stand on the bedpost with his paws against the wall. Then he will meow at a spot high on the wall, close to the ceiling. This morning he was standing on my printer which is on my bedroom P2 tower on the desk I have back there. He was meowing at the a/c vent. At least this is what it looked like.

To those who believe they understand cat behavior I am wondering what your take on this is. What is he thinking?
