I can't stress enough how important it is to get the cats eye looked at as soon as you can. Eyes go from bad to worse in no time and can be extremely painful. Any signs of squinting is pain and must be treated by a vet.
You can flush the eye with saline to see if the redness decreases.
The best and cheapest thing for you to do is take the cat to the vet now so the problem doesn't get worse. If the eye is not treated soon then you could be looking at a big medical problem. Which would take more time and $$.

If it just started an hour ago perhaps there is something in the eye. I would try to flush it out with warm water or at least take a warm cloth and wipe the eye. If it doesn't improve then there may be a upper respiratory infection setting up which will require a vet for antibiotics. Good Luck.

Please do not hesitate and get your cat to the vet a.s.a.p. the poor thing may have scratched its eye or had something scratch it or it may be an allergy.
But get a vet to examine your pet as this can only be solved by a professional.
Hope all is well and good luck

Take the cat to the vet immediately. If this is not possible, call the vet's office and ask what you should do.

sounds like your kitty might have scratched its eye or possibly got into some insulation. You should take it to the vet and let the experts diagnose. They will give kitty eye drops to clear it up.
