Sadly my cat got run over the other day and I had to have his leg amputated. The vet said he should be back to normal in a couple of weeks, but I was just wondering how long it will take for his leg to grow back?? Can anyone help me!!!

Unlike several kinds of lizards world wide, mammals do not grow back missing limbs. However, the skin and surrounding tissues will very effectively be able to cover the removed limb if the veterinarian has done their job properly. For right now, your cat's balance, ability to move and appetite will be affected, so be ready to help when necessary. If the vet gave your cat any pain meds, make sure to give ONLY the recommended amount daily and no more. Otherwise you can make your cat sick. Please don't think that this is the end of the world for your cat. After a time of adjustment, he'll quite literally be chasing mice and laser pen lights all over again, even jumping onto the couch and counter tops too.

there became right into a pair amputee cats that went to the Vet hospital the place I worked. the only distinction between them and different cats became into that lacking leg. Cats are so difficult, it is dazzling what they could stay to tell the story. One cat had a broken pelvis, we gave her discomfort meds and she or he healed all on her very own. i does no longer complication approximately Tripod no longer lasting as long as a non-amputee. i does no longer propose letting her pass exterior in spite of the undeniable fact that! some carpet could in all hazard be a sturdy thought for her, in order that she won't slip on the tile. yet she's in all hazard attentive to her obstacles besides. sturdy success and God Bless for taking in an amputee!!

The cats leg will never grow back, but there are prosthetics specifically made for animals that will help.

When you pick up your cat from the veterinarian, they should provide you with a harness that will help with walking during rehabilitating the cat.

Check this site out for more information about prosthetics you can try: http://www.handicappedpets.com/

Is this the same cat that is black and white in a previous question, and you were asking how to make it ginger colored? I hope that you are using this material for a creative writing assignment.....I hope that neither of these questions are real.

If it is true that your cat is injured, you have to ask your vet about a support for him to use while he learns to walk on three legs. Limbs do not regenerate in cats. Good luck.

If this is a serious question then you need help.

However if you do have a three-legged cat he will live a great life running around on his three legs. My three-legged was better at catching butterflies than my four-legged ones.

You don't seriously think his leg will grow back, do you? It's not like a lizard's tail. Once amputated, the leg is gone. The cat will learn how to get around, without it.

well poor kitty iam afraid you have a very long wait for a new leg. i would go down to good will and see if you could find a used one. a little duct tape and he will br good to go. ps i would put a sign on him on a busy corner saying will meow for a good used leg.
