My older cat's eye tooth is loose. I saw that it was lower than it usually is so I touched it and it was loose. I'm taking her to he vet tomorrow but what can I expect? extraction? sedated or not? gum disease? anyone else have a similar experience?

My cat also had a loose tooth - one of his fangs. It had to be extracted becuase a loose tooth cannot be saved. Most likely, your vet will recommend a thorough cleaning for starters. He will also probe around your kitty's gums and check for periodontal disease (painful lesions under the gumline). The loose tooth will have to come out. The cleaning and extraction will have to be done under anesthesia. If your cat is over 7 years old, you need to get a blood test to check kidney and other vitals. Vet will also check for heart murmurs. If all is OK, then vet will set an appointment for the dental work. My cat had to have 4 extractions. With the cleaning, blood work, organ monitoring and anesthesia, antibiotics and pain med, the total was close to $600.00.

Good Luck!

I had somewhat a same experience. I was grilling some BBQ and my cat(old cat) was begging for some and I remembered that they had no cat food and my maid was still buying some so i gave him a chunk of warm BBQ(came off the grill just 5 minutes earlier) then he ate it half of it. When I took the half chunk of BBQ to throw in the trash, I noticed a tooth stuck in the BBQ and I checked my cat for any signs that a tooth had come out and one did. Took him to the vet and all done. Nothing harmful. Happened twice so far.

Probably losing teeth from gum disease and old age. Follow the vet's advice. I have a cat who had trauma to 2 teeth and they had to be pulled to correct the situation but it didn't cost much and the cat was ok after about a week.
