I have two adult cats, for whom I am either going to buy Frontline or Advantage tomorrow. they are indoor only, but my new kittens broguht home fleas! My vet's an old family friend and I'll get his advice before choosing, but I was wondering what was your experience with your cat and these products? Which worked better, or faster, or had less effect on the cat (I've heard of cats getting sick or acting subdued after flea treatments)?

Also, I my two small kittens, about 8 weeks old, are going to be wormed and given shots, and they have sooooo many fleas! Is there anything safe to use on them? I'm going to ask the vet, of course, but I wanted to know if there were any particular options I should ask about. Is there something he'll be able to give them in-office, or a topical treatment for little kitrtens? I really can't see them suffer any longer!

Thanks!

Today i came home from work and my cat was sleeping and when i picked him up he started crying. I set him down and he wouldnt put any pressure on his left hind leg. Whenever he moves or when anyone touches his leg he cries and yelps. He even cried in his sleep. He wont eat anymore and he is always sleeping. Does anyone have any suggestions? Should i take him to the vet or should i wait it out for awhile?
Does this sound serious or like he is in shock or something from the pain...i dont know what to do. plz help!

We have an extremely affectionate and friendly 7 month old kitten. My boyfriend rescued him from a warehouse cooler back in December. He was a little afraid of people when we first got him home, but it didn't last long. We have lots of guests over all the time, and he'll play with everyone.

This morning, my mom met him for the first time. He loves being picked up, so I was carrying him into the kitchen to see her, but he took one look at her and freaked out! My mom is not scary looking, so no comments like that please. But, the cat jumped over my shoulders right away and hid in the living room hissing at her until she left. Then he was fine right away.

He's never done anything like that before. Is it possible she reminds him of someone he knew while he was a stray? Someone from the vet he didn't like? I'm really stomped. Any ideas?

Hi everyone,

I have a 10 month old cat who had his first course of vaccinations at 8 and 12 weeks. I was under the impression that he would need to have annual injections once he is 12 months old.

However..... the receptionist at the vet's surgery told me that as he is an indoor cat we don't need to worry about getting him injected unless we are planning to leave him in a cattery soon if we go on holiday.

Surely that's not true?

My female (unspayed) cat got out of the house last night (and i'm not sure for how long). she has been in heat since Friday night and somebody told me they saw her with a male cat. is it very likely she got pregnant? also how soon will i be able to tell. how long before the kittens are born (o've heard 6 weeks). We have an appointment to get her fixed in 2 weeks, and now i'm worried we wont be able to get it done. any info would be very helpful. THX!!

I have tried keeping him indoors. He becomes agressive and violent towards his sister, and cries incessanatly. I can't stand it Once he's able to go out again, he goes back to being a sweetie in the house...really affectionate and playful(he will even fetch like a dog, it's so cute). I do not want to get him de-clawed..i've always thought it inhumane. I don't want to give him back to the animal shelter. There just doesn't seem to be a good solution. I can't bear to see anymore little chipmunks and birds being chased and caught . We live on 2 fenced(8' deer fencing) acres, so no predators are ever getting in(no raccons or other cats or dogs)
Tovi is 10 mos old
ok, i guess that's about enough info, lol.
please can you help me decide what to do?

Our Milli, eats dry kitten food. Yet refuses to eat wet cat/kitten food. Milli is 5 months old.
So I started feeling bad, she seemed hungry, started giving her small amounts of tuna, she loves that.
We also started giving her sardines and pilchards, I have never owned a kitten/cat before now.
Is this wrong for Milli, she is active loves getting attention and I only give her small amounts.
Thank you in advance.

My kitty is quite an excellent lizzard hunter, but when she brings them into the house, I don't know wot to do. I mean, I don't even have any recipies for lizzards.

I know she expects me to eat it, but most of the time I just throw them out. I feel badly about this though, because it is a gift, after all, and it's not like she has a lot of money or knows wot I would like. How can I keep from hurting her feelings?

My kitty came into me office and meowed at me. I meowed back as I always do and she looked at me as if I had said something horrible and ran out of the room. I have no idea wot I said, but it must have been something terrible.

I don't actually speak Cat, so I don't know how to apologise or even if I should. I don't want to lavish her with treats and snuggling right now because I don't want her to connect those things with my meanness or vulgarity or wotever it was that I said to her.

Wot do I do?

What should I do? There is a stray cat who hangs out at my house and is used to hanging out with my 3 cats. I haven't been feeding it, but its been around so long that I don't think it'll ever leave.
I don't want to bring it to the pound because they'll probably end up killing it. Do I take it and leave it somewhere else, like at a strip mall where there are restaurants with dumpsters full of food? I feel guilty having to think about that, but whenever it hangs out with my cats, it gives them conjunctivitis. My personal cat of the 3, already has a slightly cloudy cornea when looked at an angle. Not sure if means that it has received irreversible damage. I believe that others living in the house have been feeeding it food, but I have told them not to, so it'll be forced to go away. As of now, it'll be 2 days that I haven't personally fed it and the cat must be starving cause it is practically at my feet meowing whenever it sees me eating anything. What should I do?

Any skin he finds he wants to lick. It gets annoying and I shoo him away. I don't know his past. I got him from the animal shelter and he's about 9 months old. I've had him for about 4 months.

Ok, I adopted two kittens today. They are sisters and are 9 weeks old. We have a pretty large house and everyone I had talked to said to confine them to one room with their bed, litter box and food and water. My son and I had been going in there all day with them to interact and even brought them out to the living room with us. They are VERY curious. It kind of scares me! I feel like they are going to get hurt! Anyways....when I go in there, they are cuddled up together in their litter box of all places. NOT THEIR BED! Also....when I go in there, they attack me, trying to climb up me and won't stop meowing. I don't want there first few days to traumatize them. Do I let them out to roam the house? Or what do I do? Please help!!

My kitten's right kidney was removed one month and a half ago.A few days ago she started moaning and rolling around.Sensing something was wrong I took her to the vet.Tests were made urine, blood and others, results:her only kidney was getting bigger since it's working more. She's under treatment and vet.says that it'll get better but there aren't many cases like this in my country which I can compare with and I'd like to know more about it.I'm really CONCERNED!

My 3 year old cat has only even been on a few car rides since we got him. Each time, he screams the whole way, and if he's in a carrier, he scratches at it until he rips out his claws, he bashes his head and nose on the bars until his nose is bloodied and rubs the bridge of his nose raw. When we first got him from the humane society, he had a scab on the bridge of his nose from doing the same. His nose is scarred from it. If we let him sit on a lap, he screams, scratches, and wets! Our cat is normally a very well bahaved cat, has never gone to toilet anywhere apart from outdoors, or his box. He rarely cries. He never scratches, or bites. He even comes when called and minds when he's told 'no'. It's like he's a different cat when in the car. We will be moving about 2000 miles away soon. The longest trip we've had him on was 1 hr. We are afraid he will do himself even more damage if we must have him in the car that long. How much benydyrl is safe? another sedative? Any ideas?

Trust me, the litter box is immaculate. I clean it out every 2-3 days. She is only 4 years old, and ive had her for 2 months. For the past 2 days, she has crapped in the same spot in the dining room on the floor. Can someone please tell me what could be the cause of this? I dont want her to think this is OK.
