My female (unspayed) cat got out of the house last night (and i'm not sure for how long). she has been in heat since Friday night and somebody told me they saw her with a male cat. is it very likely she got pregnant? also how soon will i be able to tell. how long before the kittens are born (o've heard 6 weeks). We have an appointment to get her fixed in 2 weeks, and now i'm worried we wont be able to get it done. any info would be very helpful. THX!!

Yes about as easily as rabbits.

Yes, your cat is probably pregnant. Please get her spayed as planned. vets routinely spay pregnant females. I know it sounds harsh, but one female can be the mother/grandmother/great grandmother to over 50 cats in just one year's time. Check out the website below for more statistics on how quickly cats multiply, and how many unwanted kittens are killed at shelters each year, because someone could not bear to have ther pregnant female spayed before the kittens were born. Cats are pregnant for approximately 63 days, and start showing after about 4 to six weeks.

Oh yes. Cats get pregnant VERY easily. I would think that even if she went out and had a "good time" the vet could still go ahead and spay her. You might want to call and see if the spay could be pushed up from two weeks to this week, but if she got pregnant that timeframe shouldn't stop the surgery.

If she had sex, she's probably got pregnant. The pregnancy lasts about 2 months. But you can't tell if she's pregnant or not until it's too late! Only the vet can tell. She will be able to get fixed in 2 weeks, the problem is they will kill the babies if she's pregnant (like an abortion). If you could explain the problem to your vet they could do the surgery sooner!

Keep your appointment to have her spayed, even if she did concieve it will be early in the pregnancy (cats and dogs carry for 59-63 days) and the spay surgery will go forward as planned (though it may cost a bit more, she will require more caution, surgery time, and post-op attention if she is in heat or pregnant at the time of the spay).

Please don't put it off, get her spayed regardless.

they don't get pregnant by male cats but your cat might have want to sleep with the female cat so she would have someone to be with her while she was not feeling good and she's in pain when she's pregnant
