My cat has recently been making a high pitching crying/whining noise before he's about to throw up. My mother says it's a normal thing to a Siamese cat ((he's barely Siamese, just has the face to it. He's a normal shorthaired cat aside from that.)) But the sound is starting to worry me, and none of my friends say they ever had something like that happen. Anyone have any clue what it might be?

Ok, I got my cat at a shelter when she was eight weeks old. We got her spayded because they wouldn't let us have her unless she was. Anyway when she was little we took her outside a few times, but all she did was meow at the door. A year later I had to grab and keep her from clawing me to pieces and put her outside and she tore up the screens on the windows to try to get inside. She is now three years old and hides whenever door opens. But she sits on the window sill and stares out the door when no one is watching. How can I get her to be a outside cat? Oh, yeah she also started breathing with her mouth open when we put her outside, kinda like hypervenilating.

two and a half years ago i adopted an eight month old male cat(nutered), i was'nt sure how i should feed him because he always seems hungry, so i feed him small portions of science diet light(dry food), i feed him sometimes 4 or 5 times a day. if i wake in the middle of the night and i dont feed him, he gets an attitude and feeding him is the only thing that calms him down, but hes entirely too fat now, he wont excercise or play with toys, just lays around until he sees me go in the kitchen. i took him to the vet last year and she told me to get him off the dry food and feed him canned, but he wont eat the canned food, he does'nt like it, and i've tried all kinds, he definitely wont eat it,i did'nt want him to starve, so i went back to the dry. what can i do to make him loose some weight? thank you in advance, cookie

I have two female cats and my roomate has one female cat. When I moved in, none of the cats were peeing anywhere besides the litter box. Since I have moved in, I could smell cat pee on the stairs. Then one of the cats peed on the chair. (When a cat peed on the chair, one of the cats was in heat - but we don't know if that is coincidence) I cannot recall if one of the cats was in heat when there was pee on the stairs. The day before yesterday, I saw my roomates cat, who was in heat, peed on my shoe. I have read that females cats can spray their scent while in heat to attract male cats. Although I have no idea who peed the other 2 times, I am inclined to think that it has something to do with the two smaller ones going into heat. (the older one is fixed) What can we do to stop this? Does it possibly have anything to do with my cats being there? I am moving out at the end of the month - and my younger cat is being fixed around the same time. Will the roomates cat still pee?

My male cat was 12 years old and passed away last Thursday. He was 12 pounds but a big long-haired cat. I loved him so much. He loved to eat, play, talk (meow) and was active and happy. He did not have any health problems. On occassion, he would cough but would only last about a minute and then he would be fine. His doctor said it was a mild cough but he was healthy. I came home and he ate, played, then ran by me to sleep next to me. Within 2 minutes he passed away in my arms. His food was fine and he was still eating (I was careful with his food due to the recall). How can a cat die so suddenly with no symtoms of anything? The doctor said it may have been a blood clot or heart problem. I am heartbroken and want answers. Can anyone please help me?

We currently have three indoor cats, because the road we live on is too busy for them to go outside. When we move, we will be on a cul de sac and two of them can go out. (The other is Himalayan and will be staying in.) We will be putting the two going out on Revolution to prevent heartworms. We're hoping since they haven't ever roamed outside the old house that they won't try to wander back to it. Has anyone ever been in this situation? If we keep them in for a couple of weeks first will they stick around? I'm getting nervous about this move! Thanks!

I have a kitten that was givin up at only 4 weeks old. I have had her now for about 2 months.

She follows me EVERYWHERE. Like, I cant even take a shower without her. She will sit on the ledge of the tub until I get out.

And whenever I go to use the restroom, she goes to use her littler box which is right next to the toilet. Even if she doesnt have to go, she will go in it just because Im using the restroom.

She is like my little shadow. Where ever I am, she is sitting next to me. Its cute, but is this normal?

I dont want her to need me all the time.

My Sweetie is getting old...20 yrs old to be exact. She has lived a good life but has some health problems now. I found out she her kidney are failing. I've noticed she has lost weight...drinks water alot...and is getting weak. Do you think it is time to make that decision? I hate to see her suffer and it so costly to keep her going back to vets every week. Its gonna be hard since she has been my shadow for sometime and she is very attached to me. How has others deal with this situation.

Over the past week or so I have noticed that my cat seems to be constantly itchy at the base of his tail/lower back - he is forever nibbling at it or licking it. - what do you think this can be? He gets his regular flea/worming treatments - could they not be working and he has some infestation?

we keep my cats bowl and this bucket thing filled with food in the garage so she can get too it through the doggy door and be somewhere pretty warm without making a mess or anything inside the house.

yesterday my dad went to the garage in the morning to feed the cat and there was cat food all over the floor and the bucket was on its side. he cleaned it up and that night he put duct tape on the lid because he thought maybe our cat accidentally knocked it over.

today the duct tape was ripped off very crudely and the food was on the floor again.

there is a doggy door into our garage always open but the back door and garage door are always locked at night.

my dad thinks its a raccoon or the neighbor cats. i have no idea what it could be. who do you think it is and how can we stop it?

A stray cat keeps entering my house to steal cat food, through the small cat door into the laundry room. This cat sprays scent and generally is a nuisance. How to get rid of it in a non-violent way? Any suggestions, thanks!

I've just become a Surrogate mother to a 4-5 week old kitten. I've had him about 8 hours before which he was abandoned with his sister. My vet said that because his cainen teeth have begun to cut through I should feed him moistened kitty food, however he refuses to eat. What should I do? Revert to a form of liquids? wait for him to eat the solids?

My persion cat is getting older (she's now 8) and has developed a hair ball problem in the last year. She's been to the vet and I changed her food a long time ago to Science Diet Senior Hairball formula. It seems to have helped. I also feed her hairball gel three times a week, and I brush her with a slicker brush every day to remove as much shedding hair as possible. The vet suggested that I also have her groomed. The problem with that is, my cat and the groomer just don't work out. She's a shy house cat, and freaks out when she's at the groomer (ironically she's okay at the vet). I've tried taking her on 3 seperate occasions. She will not have it AT ALL. I've never groomed a cat before. I'm pretty sure I will be able to handle it, but tips from anyone who have done this before would be most appreciated.

Around a week ago, my cat got his shots at the vet. He also had a tapeworm, which the vet treated him for (it appears to be gone now, thankfully).

Now, however, he is sneezing a lot - something is obviously irritating him.

Is the sneezing some sort of short-term response that can be attributed to the vaccinations, or should I look for some other cause?

Thanks for any answers.

My cat has this disease and I'm curious as to where I can learn more about it. I understand that it is an inflammation of the bowel that cause bloody or mucous covered feaces (apparently due to the immune system attacking itself). However my cat also vomits blood and get really depressed during bouts. She is on three weekly steroid injections but these apparently carry the risk of inducing diabetes.
Is there a diet way to control it or a link to a paper that better explains this condition?
Thanks
