Alright we found a cat outside about a year ago, she was like a bag of bones, so we took her in. The vets estimated her to be between 1-2 years old, so she's probably about 3 now. Got her neutered and shots and all of that. I try to be as nice as I can to her, but she's mean. I try to pet her and she just gives me this glare, if I pick her up and hold her she sits there and tries to get away the whole time. If you pick her up she sometimes growls and hisses. I give her treats, feed her, catnip, try to play with her occasionally, leave her alone for the most part, yet she still hates me with a passion. She's really nice to my mom, follows her around, crawls in her lap and sits with her, etc. but nobody else.

Sometimes whenever I go to pet her she swats me and makes me bleed, I just walk away rather than trying to punish her cuz I think that will make her hate me even more than she already does. I just don't understand why she hates me, I've never done anything to her?

My family was handed a feral cat today by our dog-loving neighbor wth the advisory that he'd been in a bush behind her house for at least 48 hours, and that she eventually went out there to find him stuck or something. He (or she) is about 5 weeks old, has what looks like an eye infection, and is positively terrified. We've already left messages with all the local feral programs and shelters and so forth, but we won't get an answer back for at least a day, and he's constantly yowling. How do we make him happy until the shelter/catch-spay-release program calls and we can give him to them?

About a year ago we were given a rescue dog, okay it was a adult spaniel but we tried everything and my cats would not come home. After three days I couldnt bear thinking of them like thisit just not fair on them as they here first. So maybe a puppy is a better option but how we gonna know. Anybody had similar situation?

I found a wonderful stray cat on saturday. I however, did not keep it and gave it to teh humane society because I am currently un-employed and living off of my student loans. I am a full time student and am never home as I am always at school. I am barely getting by right now. I felt this would not be fair to the kitty I found. I also live in a small apartment which I also do not think is condusive to the well being of the kitty either. I called around to different Humane Societies and chose one that I felt was the best for the kitty and took it it there hoping it will find a loving family that will give it a great home. I also plan on being notified about the family who adopts the kitty.

I have felt awful since. I am crying a lot.

Did I make the right desicion? I have felt that I would be selfish if I kept the kitty under my dire circumstances. Was I eing selfish by taking it to teh humane society? Or was I selfish for keeping it?

Please, help!

My cat just jumped up into the window, which was closed, and promptly fell down, wiley-coyote style. He looked at all of us, laughing, and has promptly ran out, quite embarassed.
What is your funny embarassed cat (or dog) story?

We just got a new kitten and he's about 8 weeks old. The poor thing is infested with fleas and we've been unable to find anything to resolve the issue. Is there a home remedy that we can use until he's old enough to get the spot treatments? combing everyday helps a little but doesnt stop the cycle.

What can I feed her to help her gain weight? I have 4 different kinds of dried food setting out for her all the time. I cook her beef and chicken. I give her cheese and Half & Half. I don't know what else to give her. When I give her pouches of wet food she licks the juice out and leaves the rest. Any suggestions please?

Hi, I am currently living in very small village in central France where i moved a few months ago. Bascially there are about 8 cats that live in this village but no one owns them, and various houses just throw food outside for them to eat (pasta?) , but they do stay mainly outside one house.
I have had cats all my life so know what cat flu is like, and these cats are suffering badly. Eyes look sore, noses look like phlem is oozing out, very bad breathing, coughing, wheezing. As i doubt any are neutered or anyone bring them to the vets the infections keep spreading. Also i notice a lot have problems with hair loss, not sure why.
Is there anything i can do, without infringing on the village life as i dont speak to any of them as they keep to themselves. Anyone know of simple medicines i can give the cats, as i want to help them but also not to have the cats then living around our house because i helped them.
Any help apprecaited!

How long after a cat eats a tapeworm carring flea will you see the tapeworm (rice)

I was wondering because Ive treated her with with a flea bath and frontline and cleaned the house and gotten rid of all the carpet in the house.

She has been treated every month for about 5-6 months and ive seen no fleas. (she's white so it's extra easy to see them)

But today ive seen tapeworms popping out her butt. Is it possible she's just been harbering tapeworms for all this time and just now started to pop them out?

I know to take her to a vet. Im just looking for some information to campare with what they will tell me.

Thanks
