I have a kitten that was givin up at only 4 weeks old. I have had her now for about 2 months.

She follows me EVERYWHERE. Like, I cant even take a shower without her. She will sit on the ledge of the tub until I get out.

And whenever I go to use the restroom, she goes to use her littler box which is right next to the toilet. Even if she doesnt have to go, she will go in it just because Im using the restroom.

She is like my little shadow. Where ever I am, she is sitting next to me. Its cute, but is this normal?

I dont want her to need me all the time.

This is an attachment issue. She was taken away from her mother too soon, so she has you as "her mother" to replace the nurturing she needs. She will end up being your best friend when you are down or need to have her by your side when you need comforting. Remember she is only a baby now, but as she matures, she will go off on her own as cats do, becoming independent, not as clingy as she is now. She may be a pain now, but you will have the best friend in the world without any stipulations attached, just love.

It's normal because she was separated from her mother and siblings so early. In her eyes, you have replaced them as her mother AND playmate.

This behavior can get annoying as she grows up. She will learn to manipulate you into giving her attenion any time SHE wants. Just like a puppy and a child, she needs to be shown some tough love and learn to entertain herself when you are not available.

Get her a variety of toys to play with. Then gently pick her up without making a big deal out of it and put her and the toys in a separate room and shut the door, just for 10-15 minutes at first. She'll cry, but she needs to learn that you can't always be there. Gradually leave her in for longer and longer until she can tolerate a whole hour alone without crying. She will learn to soothe herself and entertain herself. She will not stop being affectionate with you as long as you greet her cheerfully on the open end of the door after her "time-out."

She probably thinks you are her mother so she follows you around so you can teach her what to do, like her mother would have. I adopted a one year old male 2 weeks ago and he is the oddest cat. He will follow me to the bathroom and hubby too. And he will watch us when we use the toilet, try to look in, while we are using it. Then has to watch as it flushes, his favorite sleeping place is even the bathroom. Then him and my other male will lay in the bathroom or on the tub ledge when I shower. Just nosey or who knows, lol. Good luck with the kitty.

If she was taken from mom at 4 weeks, this behavior is to be expected. Many kittens who are taken from mom too early have separation anxiety. As she get more and more comfortable in your home, the behavior will become less and less, though she may always be a little bit clingy.

Yes that is normal. Animals that you adopt at a very young age sometime develop a complex and they think you are something like there mother. You are pretty much all that cat knows and she loves you.

Plus cats do tend to follow the ones who feed them. LOL I have three cats and when I am walking around my house I have an entourage. LOL.

Kittens (and puppies) taken from the mother too young will often adopt a surrogate to emulate. Your kitten is simply looking to you for behaviours it needs to live in your world. On the plus side, your kitty will always be especially affectionate and seek you out for comfort.

Lol - she sounds like a little perv. But I think lots of cats do that! A friend of mine's cat always follows her to the loo or the shower, too.

She was taken from her momma too soon, so now she thinks you're her momma. Her behavior is normal.

You can get used to it, or maybe try to 'wean' her. But that won't be easy, even if it can be done without traumatizing her.
