My cat has recently been making a high pitching crying/whining noise before he's about to throw up. My mother says it's a normal thing to a Siamese cat ((he's barely Siamese, just has the face to it. He's a normal shorthaired cat aside from that.)) But the sound is starting to worry me, and none of my friends say they ever had something like that happen. Anyone have any clue what it might be?

Frequent vomiting in a cat is not normal. If your cat is vomiting frequently, it could be sick. Take him to the vet, to be safe.

Although occasional vomiting is common, it is NOT normal for a cat. Most cats who have hairballs or vomit on a regular basis do so because they aren't getting enough moisture in their food, or because they're eating a species-inappropriate diet of dry food that is much too high in grains and indigestible plant proteins. If your cat vomits hairballs any more than once or twice a year, you should seriously consider trying to add some high-quality canned food to your cat's diet. See these pages, written by vets, on the problems associated with dry food and how to choose a good food for cats:

Hope this helps!

My Siamese used to sound like a little kid calling for help right before she'd throw up a hair ball. It really is normal. I used to turn it into a joke and every time I'd hear it mention a hairball on the way up or something. Your cat may not look much like a Siamese but it's got the genes and that's all that counts.

Well, it could be normal. However, my husband had a cat that would make those exact noises when it was about to use his litter box. The vet said it is associated with pain. You may want to take your cat to the vet to make sure it is normal!!! Good luck!!

He's sick to his tummy and it probably doesn't feel good coming up....so he expresses it. At least you know so you can clean it and him up. I have had cats who have done the same and none were Siamese.

My cat does that too, it's normal. it's like a weird weeze, but they're just trying to get excess hair up before they puke. :-P also, sometimes my cat burps and coughs before he pukes, so that is normal too. if your cat throws up more than 5 times in one day, however, consult your vet.
