Trust me, the litter box is immaculate. I clean it out every 2-3 days. She is only 4 years old, and ive had her for 2 months. For the past 2 days, she has crapped in the same spot in the dining room on the floor. Can someone please tell me what could be the cause of this? I dont want her to think this is OK.

I'll add that she is a happy cat, doesnt appear ill, and she has not been traumatized in any way. She'll pee in the litter box. I'll be taking her to the vet if this happens again. I dont understand because Ive been following the same practices, same litter, same food...etc. But there is nothing in my entire house that would want to make her just crap on the floor. I am a germophobe and a neatfreak.

Cats usually display inappropriate elimination for two reasons. (1) they are ill or (2) something has changed around the house to make them unhappy.

Think back .......Was there any changes made to the cat's living environment? Did someone come to stay with you? Did you change the type of litter or the box or the location of the box.....diets did you change that?

Make absolutely sure that you have cleaned all the odor away from the dining room.

Good luck

Your litter box is NOT immaculate if you only clean it out every 2-3 days. You need to scoop At Least once a day, better yet every time she goes - scoop. Some Cats prefer to pee in one box and poop in a second box. Take her into the vet for an exam and rule out medical issues.

I would suggest that you take your act to the vet and have a check up. It is very unusual for a cat to change litter box habits and there is usually a reason for it. You will need to rule out medical reasons first. Once the vet has given your cat a clean bill of health then you can look at behaviour issues.

Please get back to us once you have had your cat vet checked!

I hope that all goes well!

Your cat is trying to tell you there is a problem. UTIs (Urinary Tract Infections) are common in some cats. Take her to the vet, who will give you an antibiotic (if it is that). Cats are usually fastidious and that is almost always the method they use to tell you something is "off." After all, if you were stranded on a planet of bears, how would you communicate?

He won't like the scent of the container. Do you wash it thoroughly on a universal foundation? could want to get a clean clutter container and see if he likes it extra advantageous, or attempt a distinctive form of clutter.

Perhaps you should be using unscented litter and clean it every time the cat goes to do its business

There is probably a scent in that part of the dining room that she equates to pooping. You'll need to get rid of the scent.
