Find someone to talk to that will listen while you talk about your cat and show pictures of it. Express your sorrow through art or writing. In time you might volunteer at a shelter and help socialize other cats. You can plant a tree or bush and memorialize the pet.

I lost three beautiful cats. Time is the only thing that can help you get over them. Don't be afraid to cry and talk about him. have a little photo framed to remind you of the good times. Today I still get a lumb in my thoat and it has been over a year. The main reason being is that I miss them. You will never get over them and never forget them but you do feel better. I feel getting a new cat or kitten also helps because of the feeling of providing a new cat/kitten with home. When I look at the cats I have now I smile because I know that something good (if that is at all possible) did come out of all of the deaths of my three babies. (died at different times). Good luck and remember that you will see your little one againg in heaven on day. My sister has dedicated the song "Time after time" from Cindy Lauper to her cat that died. When she hears this song she sits teary eyed and remembers him .

I'm sorry to hear of your loss..... My family just lost our cat of 12yrs about 2wks ago. We've all had our share of crying and crying some more..... Together and separately. What we've done is tried to talk of all the funny things he did when we're starting to get blue. I choose do to some of my crying alone and that's ok. The only real answer I have is- to give it time. You can never tell someone how long. Everyone is different. But I know it hurts now. As the old saying goes " time heals all things." Before long you'll be able to talk about all the memories you have and it won't as much. Don;t keep your feelings bottled up. We buried him in the back yard and I plan on making one of those walk way stones to put on top. And maybe do some other nice things.....plant flowers I'm not sure. And in time........I want to get out some of his pictures and put them together in a nice book and give it to the actual owner. My thoughts are with you and I wish you the best.

Man, this one is tough. My favorite pet was a black cat named Buckwheat. My daughter always said that it would tear me up if he died, and it did. My daughters best friends sister hit him with a car. The thing I did was bury near our house. I got another cat, but it was never the same. I mean, I loved the other cat and all, but it was never the same. I mean it's just like losing a family member. The only thing I can tell you is that it will lessen as time goes on, but you will never forget. For me getting another cat did help some. You may want to try that. Not to soon afterward. Give it time. I wish u the best

I'm so sorry your cat died. Our Cat Blackie died on may 6th 2007 and we are still dealing with his passing.
Things like do we bury him or cremate him. Its hard to watch the world continue when he isn't part of it anymore. I keep expecting to see him at the door when I come home. My friends are all very supportive but I have realized that it will take time for us to accept it and move on.
So that's what we are doing taking our time. We cremated Blackie and will put a memorial marker in the back yard.
We washed all his dishes, put them away and removed his litter box. Just take your time and grieve then when your ready try sharing your life with a new kitty. We will always Love and remember Blackie . His pictures will always be out for us to remember him by and we are thankful he was a part of our lives.
Talk about him it helps.
I hope this helps and if you need to talk email me anytime. By the way its natural to have all sorts of feelings good and bad. So do what you need to, no one can deny you that.

I'm sorry for your loss, I have lost cats and the only thing I found that helped me was get another kitten. Until I found the perfect one , I had to put away all the cat toys, the cat box and the food and water dishes. I have pictures of them so I could always look at them. It helped by reminding me of the quiet times when my cat would jump on my lap and demand to be rubbed behind the ears. then fall asleep so you had to sit there and wait for it to wake up and move on. I hope this helps.

I am sorry to hear about your lose. When my cat Ryan O'Riley past away in Jan. I was heart broken. Mourn your loss, animals hold a special part in your life. I dealt with it by making a scrapbook, its relaxing and you can get lost in your good memories of him. I personally don't think its a great idea to run out and get a new kitten but to each his own. I waited until a couple of weeks ago. I got my new kitten Lincoln on accident (just like I got Ry-Ry) I am a frim believer that pets choose you, you don't choose them.

grieving is natural. you will miss him, but that over time fades back. try removing the signs of him in the house, but keep the good mementos. Pictures and such.
You may have a difficult time replacing him right now, and I wouldn't worry about that. You could try foster kittens for non profit organization, they are fun, distracting, and you will be doing something good. volunteer at the animal shelters socializing any animal give you other animals to focus on.
All in all? just one day at a time to get over him.
