My kitty is quite an excellent lizzard hunter, but when she brings them into the house, I don't know wot to do. I mean, I don't even have any recipies for lizzards.

I know she expects me to eat it, but most of the time I just throw them out. I feel badly about this though, because it is a gift, after all, and it's not like she has a lot of money or knows wot I would like. How can I keep from hurting her feelings?

You can do one of three things.
1/. Keep her inside to keep the lizards safe.
2/. Praise her for her "gift" and dispose of it when she's not looking.
3/. Use any reciepe for snake - you can use lizard, just use more of them.

Okay Well I Have 4 Cats, They All Bring In Birds, Mice And Frogs. The Best Thing To Do Is Go Somewhere With The Lizard So It Looks Like Your Going To Eat In Then When She Isn't Looking Wrap It Up And Throw It Away. Then Praise Them After And Say Thankyou. Thats My Advice. Hope I Helped =D

Once you give a gift, it is up to the recipient what they do with it ~ enjoy it or chuck it. Cats know this and are not likely to feel badly about your decision, although she may be a bit surprised when you chuck away a perfectly good lizard! Still, for cats, appearances mean a lot and she's done her part by giving the gift ...

Ok, well what do you do when someone gives you a gift you hate. I pretend I love it then get rid of it. When my kids were small and I used to try get them to eat all that horrible mashed up Brussel sprouts gunge, I had this technique where I pretended I was taking a morsel and made this big show of how yummy it was, then I would swerve in with the spoon and ram the ghastly stuff down their throats. You could pretend to kitty that you find chewed up lizard delicious. Then carry on throwing them out the window.

Hi! As far as I understand, kitties do this for a couple of suggested reasons, as in giving you a gift in order to gain your approval as her owner, trying to possibly help out in providing food to the family, he he... :P It's something that she's trying to do for you and I think the best thing you can do (and what I've always done) is no matter what it is (how gross, how sad, if it's a pretty bird or something) is to treat the gift with an approving attitude and tone. Kitty's intention is good, so she needs to be met with approval for the intent. Because she's only going to understand the approval as having done something good, and only going to understand disapproval as having done something bad. And she won't understand why doing something that she sees as good would be seen as NOT good to you.

I would say the best way to deal with the gifts, then, is to take them and just throw them away. She'll be satisfied by your having taken them and doesn't need to know what you do with them further. If it's a matter of her killing and bringing things home that you'd rather not have her kill (my childhood cat was amazingly adept at catching really pretty songbirds, which broke my heart!), it can help to put a collar with a bell on her, which might make it harder for her to make stealth catches. This might keep up the population of whatever it is you don't want her to kill...

Good luck!

She's trying to show you that she loves you. I know you really don't "need" a dead lizard, but your kitty wants to share. So pet her, give her some love, and just let her keep bringing the gifts that never seem to end! lol

Just praise her, and when she's not looking, trow it awy, she might think you ate it, but really you wont. My two cats are the same way, I just praise them of being good hunters, and when they are not looking, I trow the birds, and mice in the trash

Well as cats in general don't seem to have the intellectual capacity to be upset in the sense you seem to think (perhaps) i don't believe this to be too much of a problem.I understand, i have owned cats in the past but they too have brought me things.Perhaps just treat your kitty nicely and they'll forgive you =-).
