We have a cat that stays outside. She had babies about 2 weeks ago and we have still not found them. I am wondering if they even lived at this point. She stays gone most of the time but comes back morning and night to eat. Her breasts (are they called that on kitties??) are not big like what you see on dogs but the fur is being worn off around them. Should they be swollen and saggy like a mama dog? Do you think the kittens lived based on the way the fur is matted and missing from around her nipples? This is our first experience with a mama cat so any advice is definitely helpful!!

Two things...
1. If you knew she was pregnant, why didn't you bring her in, for then you could keep a better eye on her and the kittens?
2. Please get momma cat spayed, if you plan on keeping her strictly outdoors. It's the smart thing to do.

How old is momma cat?

Hi
yes, it certainly sounds like Mama kitty is feeding her kitties. Kitties don't get all saggy and hangy with their breasts like a dog unless she has a lot of babies over a period of time. If you let kitty back outside try to watch where she goes as she will feed the babies as soon as she eats. You should try to get her fixed, did you know she can get pregnant after the babies are only 2 weeks old and will continue this cycle until she is fixed or dies from having too many kitties? And what happens to all of those kittes if you don't find them? They will be ferals and breed every 2 months too! OMG, do you know how many kitties you will have around your house?

Sounds like the kittens are alive around there somewhere, with my Mama Cat she brings them to us when she is ready and will set each kitten at the door and will start caring for them close to home and to us, we always fix her a safe place on the porch and she normally waits about 3 weeks before she does so. Anytime we have ever found the kittens before she was ready for us to be around them she would move them to a different location and hide them from us again, so I would give it awhile and wait and see if she brings them to you, and if you do go find them I would try and keep it hid from mama cat that you know where they are so she won't move them somewhere else.

yes your little mama probably has living kittens.

After she comes in of a morning and eats. Follow her to find where the kittens are. It's important to socialize them to humans as soon as possible, so that you can find them good homes.

Then have mama spade. There are so many unwanted animals in the world we don't really need more...

I,m sure she has them hidden, until they are big enought to take care of themself. We have had a lot of kittens with stray cats we feed and thats the way they do it. Good luck!!!

It sounds like she is still nursing them She will have them in a very dark, quiet place.
