You should not move. You should report the neighbors dogs to the police. Maybe you will save the life of another cat or, even better, the life of a child.
Think about it. Those dogs are dangerous.

I'm sorry for your loss! That is a terrible thing to go through, I hope you are coping alright. It's natural to not want to stay in a place that will constantly remind you of what happened to your beloved cat. You could request that your neighbors install an electric fence, if they had the $$ for the dogs they should have the $$ for the fence. You could tell them that installing a fence would make you less likely to go to the police about the matter. And if you want to have the freedom to let your cat out once in awhile that is your right, but maybe you might want to adopt a feral cat instead of an indoor cat. I have known of several cats able to take on dogs. A kitten has absolutely no chance against a bloodthirsty rotweiler. A full grown seasoned cat with survival experience does have a chance. They can also be very loving with you too, as long as you feed them good food. I knew a woman that adopted a pregnant stray cat and everybody who met this cat thought that this was the meanest cat including my ex. This cat would only let two people near it. Her, & me. She was shocked that the cat accepted me too. This cat knew exactly how to use ALL of her weapons to the fullest extent of a protective mother. No dog would even approach this cat.
Maybe a cat like that would teach those mean old rots a lesson.

I'm sorry for your loss - it sounds like a horible tradgedy and for you to have to see it first hand must have been dreadful. BUT there are several things that should be noted:
A. House cats are domestic animals that should be kept indoors. This may seem mean but it sounds like you are not doing enough to keep your cats indoors if they get out so often. They should not "accidentally" get out.
B. It is a dog's instinct to chase cats but your neighbor's dogs should have been on a leash or contained in a yard and should not have been allowed to run rampant in the streets. What if it was a small child that they had caught? You definately should alert the authorities.

I love dogs... but any dog that is vicious, and kills should not be allowed to live in a residential neighborhood, and allowed to be free. This (these) dogs need to be removed from the neighborhood in the least, and if they continue to kill other pets, etc, the law is pretty clear, these animals are to be put down. Some advice, stand up for your rights. Your cats are not hurting anyone, these dogs are, and apologetic or not, these owners are in the wrong and should be the ones to make changes. Their inaction to do something about this is the equivalent of abuse. Good luck.

That's absolutely horrible to hear, I'm sorry for your loss.
I wouldn't move because of it. I would talk to the neighbor and tell them they need to keep the dog confined, there are leash laws, etc and if the neighbor is breaking it you should call the police. If he refuses I would file a police report. Being vicious can bring on other problem.
Best of luck with your neighbor.

im sorry to hear of your loss. i feel for you and your family.. but i would not move.. i would be looking into what else you can do about the situation.. as im sure that those dogs should not be alive themselves.. as if that was a child that died like that i can assure that those dogs would be put down.. but maybe you can invest in those outside cat averys so all your cats can enter via a cat door from the house to outside.. best of luck

You could put some wooden things in your yard that your kitties can climb if chased. You can also make a sturdy wooden box with a hole just big enough to a cat to go in and put another in your house so that your kitties see it as a safe zone and will flee there if they are chased. My cat used to climb trees to get away from dogs.

That is so sad. I am very sorry that happened to your kitten and yourself.
I thought if a dog KILLED a neighbors pet, that neighbor who owned the offending pet, got a ticket....warning....something. I would contact Animal Control. They should be able to interviene between your neighbor and yourself, so you don't have to live in fear of your pets being killed.

call the police and explain the situtation to them. then request that the neighbor's dogs are put to sleep for the safety of others. this way you don't have to move and your kitties are safe.
Rest In Peace, little kitten.
