i have 3 cats, 2 female 1 male. one of the females has started to hiss at the male for no apparent reason. she started this after we moved house, but only does it now and again. they are all a similar age and have lived together since they were kittens. she also paces the room, but only if she is in the front room. all the cats have been checked by the vet and are in good health (all neutered). we spend alot of time with the cats, they have plenty toys and lots of room to run so i can't put it down to boredom. can anyone help?

I have 3, 1 female, 2 male. And my female will hiss and even tussle with my older male cat. (and he is 3 times her size).

I chalk it up to the whole animal hierarchy thing. My female (Sharkey) apparently wants Dolphin to know that SHE is top kitty in the house.

Doesn't matter, they are both wrong, top kitty in this house is Stingray. Stingray must have been a person in an earlier life. He leaves both of them alone, and goes around drinking coffee! (earlier question)!

Usually cats hiss when another cat is either getting too close, mean, annoying, etc. Cats like their own space and when another cat invades it they hiss to tell the to 'back off'! I know this because I have 5 all together in my life I have had about 10. Not all at the same time ;) !!!! I have 5 now though so....

How long have you been in the new place? Cats sometimes take awhile to adjust. She may be having trouble adjusting, be feeling irritated and/or upset and she's hissing because being more on edge she finds something about him annoying. Do they get along well at other times? It could be that sometimes she's just saying "NOT RIGHT NOW!"

I have two cats--both male and the older cat (10 yrs) hisses at the younger cat (1yr.) all the time. My younger kitty is so playful and wants to play with the older cat--but he will have no part of it. I have decided this is how it is going to be and have accepted it.

hissing means "back off." I have one who does it for no reason. She's just not a peaceful cat.

perhaps she in basic terms needs a while on my own. You stated they spend relatively some time together, perhaps Imp in basic terms needs some on my own time. Imp is in basic terms attempting to tell Evee that she needs her/him to pass away her on my own.
