She's not pregnant. She's a small cat that is not overweight but her stomach feels like a soft ball in size and firmness. When looking at her from above you can see the outline of her stomach looks bigger than it should. She also seems a bit sensitive to the touch. Any (serious) ideas on what this could be? She does have FIV...could it be constipation?

Any (sincere) information would be appreciated.

Thank you!

It may very well be constipation. Do you feed her canned cat food? If not, you should add it to her diet to help prevent constipation. Check her litter box. Has she had a bowel movement lately? If not, then I would call the vet and ask what to give her for constipation. Severe constipation can kill a cat. Immediate action needs to be taken to prevent anymore constipation. I also have a FIV cat who has had problems with constipation. I give him half dry/half canned catfood and always keep a close watch on his bowel movements. Get her to the vet, it could be anything from worms to constipation to god knows what. Those symptoms are bad in humans so im assuming its not good for a cat either. Worms, Worms. This is the sign of worms. Get some dewormer.this sounds like some kind of worms. I would just take the cat for a quick vet visit to get some meds. The vets would be the only ones that would know what kind of worms the cat would need to be treated for so, your best bet would be to take the cat to the vet. Most kinds of worms isn't a big deal if they are treated in a timely manor.

I can guarantee your cat is pretty darn ill.

The best that you can hope for is that it's worms - although the stomach is not usually hard, and diarrhoea is usually present. Are you worming her regularly with proper stuff from a vets?

It could be FIP (Feline infectious peritonitis). It could be the FIV, although this virus in itself does not kill directly - it's the secondary infections that the cat cannot defend itself from as a result of the FIV that end up killing it.

Even if it's 'just' constipation, it would have to be very bad (like she hasn't pooed in about two weeks) for her abdomen to look like this!

Please take the cat to the vet without further delay, there are many bad things this could be.

My immediate guess would be worms, but it's hard to say. Get her to the vet ASAP to have it checked out. If it is worms, they can give her better wormer than you can buy OTC. If it's something else, hopefully they can take care of that as well. But only your vet can make a proper diagnosis.

Take her to the vet right away! Her stomach may have flipped, causing a kink in her intestines. It's very common in animals, but very dangerous if not taken care of. There's also the possibility she may have eaten something that is causing a blockage.

TAKE HER TO THE VET RIGHT AWAY!!!!!! It could be a blocked bladder and that could burst. Unless this has been going on for days, could be worms.

See a vet - it may be nothing of major concern, but could be serious such as a cancerous tumor or intestinal blockage.
