yes they do hear better. I just have to look at my cat to know the mailman is walking the front path... and sure enough, a few seconds later a loud slap! tells me the mail has been delivered...which my cat knew first... :)

Yes, for example my kitten has this toy that rattles, but it's really soft and I can barely her eat. Other day my boyfriend had his music up really loud and I just had her toy move it to where I keep all her toys.
