I have the same problem with my cat. You know when my cat was in heat she would do allot of crazy stuff like that. If your tired of opening and closing the door all day you could install a little animal door on your front door or something. Try letting her out first thing when you leave to go to work or school and if your worried about her outside when your not there you could leave a dish of cat food out. Then maybe she'll stay inside all night, my cat does at least.

My cat is the same way. They want to enjoy the outside as well as the inside. Only let the cat out at certain times each day and the cat will eventually get use to the routine.

Your cat is acting perfectly normal. Cats are very territorial and they like to keep an eye on "their" yard and house at the same time. I have a cat and he does this all the time. If you don't like her going outside, try to get her to lay down and be petted for a while. She might develop a taste for the land of inside!

More cat toys needed? Cat is fixed/neutered? Places to hide and be discreet in the yard? So she now wants back inside to hide a while.
Turn on the tv for her, or get that VHS/DVD for cats only. It shows butterflies, mice and birds on it with sound.

I have heard before that a cat always wants to be on the other side of the door. So when she's inside, she wants to be on the other side. When she's outside she wants to be on the other side. Cats are silly that way.

Strange. Your cat is acting just like a ....CAT! Install a pet door and relax. Best possible outcome -she does her duty "out there," and you never need to clean the litter box again. That's the way it is in our house.

My cats do the same thing. I think it's because their bored sometimes and can't decide what they want to do next. It's pretty annoying, isn't it?!
