I've always used doublesided sticky tape on paper that I placed on my countertops. The problem with many of the ways mentioned is that you have to be there to stop the cat. And so the cat learns to do it when you are gone. This way is very passive and the cat will not associate it with you in any way. After a few days of getting her paws stuck, she may decide that it's no longer fun. My husband has always been impressed with the behavior of my boys because of it, especially when we visit friends that have cats that are getting into everything.

My cats do the same thing. I keep the door to my bathroom closed. I noticed a while back that one of my cats likes to drink water from the toilet so I keep the toilet lids closed at all times. I do let them get in the bathtub if they want. I don't have a problem with that. Sometimes I fill the bathtub with a little water so they can play in it.
My cats also jump on the kitchen counter. It bothered me at first, but I don't care anymore. I don't see how you can prevent it. I always keep the kitchen Lysol on the counter and just wipe it often. Also, I don't leave any food or open containers of food on the counters to prevent cat hair from falling on the food.

Hmmm ... well, cats just naturally like to be up high. As for me, I don't mind my cats on the counters. I just keep a spray bottle filled water & a little bit of bleach & spray the counter, then wipe with paper towel before using the counter - takes couple seconds & works for me. My knees aren't great so I feed my cats on the kitchen counter, so I guess I've encouraged their climbing up there. However, I have found that shaking a tin container with coins in it while saying "NO" or "GET DOWN" loudly helps keep them off areas where I don't want them to be. Give that a try.

you won't be in a position to discipline a cat. they have not have been given any theory of suited or incorrect and don't comprehend why they are being punished. What you're able to do is make the placement uncomfortable for them and which will convince them to not do it. there became right into a time while i might yell at my cats and chase them around the domicile. They hate that. yet I certainly are starting to be lazy in my previous age; now I set the canines on the cats while they misbehave. The cats get a lesson, the canines thinks that's a brilliant interest and my knees do not harm. anybody advantages. And in the top the 4 human beings lay on the settee and function a sleep. that's a powerful existence.

Yep, put the pennies in a can and shake it at her whenever you catch her doing something you don't want her to do, like climbing on your counters. If she is jumping on a chair or something to get to the countertop, move the chair and avoid the problem entirely.
Also, it's dangerous for you cat to play in the toilet, especially unsupervised. They can get stuck and drown. Part of kitten-proofing should include making sure the toilet lid is always down.

Sprinkle red pepper on the counters. She will hate it, put a little in the toilet also. Fill the tub with water and add a little red pepper there too.
Then place a spot of cat food on the climbing post. She will learn to associate good things with the climbing post and bad things with the counter.
Hopefully, that will work.

Is there any way you can close her out of the kitchen completely? If you feed your cat people food, they will always look for it from wherever they see you eat from. Make sure there is no food on your counters, soon she will figure out she has no need to be up there. Feed her away from your kitchen, say a laundry room or a spare room, so she gets the idea the kitchen is not the place to look for her food. When our new kittens would go for the counters, we would clap and hiss loudly to let them know they weren't supposed to be there. Be consistent too, EVERY time she gets up there, clap and hiss at her, or whatever you choose to get her down.

Use the same good size squirt bottle and add a capfull of vinegar (white). This will not hurt the cat. The smell is very potent on the olfactory system and will work wonders.
Their is also a product called the Scat Mat. This will roll out over your counter or couches and will act like a static shock if your cat touches it. Kinda like when you rub your foot on a carpet and touch someone. It costs a pretty penny though. Around $75.00. Available at PetSmart. Good luck.

The loud noise of something being shaken is a great idea. Also, I've heard that this works wonders for cat and dog owners. Blow up a balloon, pop it in cat's face! She will not be jumping up on that counter anymore! Also, my cat loves water too, but if you get a spray bottle or a squirt gun that has a stream, not just a spray-do it directly at her head. She will run off! Good Luck!

Depending on the type of spray bottle you use sometimes it's more the hissing sound than the water that gets their attention. Make a loud noise like clap your hands which could startle her when she's doing something wrong and will distract kitty. Another idea is a scat mat. When she lands on it it will make a sound. Or just be persistant and every time she gets up put her down. Don't give any affection and be detached. When she is down give her affection and praise.
