my kitty had kittens yesterday and we woke up to fund one dead today.. its unknown what happened.. now she has 3.. 2 are acting spunky and nursing frequently but one is acting sort of lazy and nurses every so often.. should i be worried? could this one be headed down the same path as the other unfortunate kitten?

I would get advice from the vet via phone, no charge for that.

Good Possiblity as you dont know what happend to the other.
Try to help it to nurse so it will get nurishment. If that dont work, get you one of those little pet nurser bottles and pet formula (walmart) or by a vet. and feed it yourself every 3-4 hours and wipe its genitle areas with a warm wet cloth after every feeding to help it relieve itself as this is what the mother cat does when she cleans her babies. You can do it.
I have hand raised rabbits, racoons. Good Luck with your new fur babies!!!

If the third one isn't nursing like its siblings, you might want to watch it. Those first few weeks are very important in a baby cat's growth.

You might lose the 'lazy' one - watch what she does - is she licking it like the rest? It might have problems, or it might just be a little behind the other two. If she is taking good care of it, then I wouldn't worry.

really it depends on the circumstances. is this your cats first litter? if so they have a hard time taking care of them right. I would contact a vet to be sure it isn't a disease that could spread to the rest of them.

It may be fading.... if you want to save the lot or give them the best chance, get them plus mom to the vet.
