I appreciate everyones answers, I just love her very much and I am really concerned about her well being. I hated to put her through that, but I was told for a female, it was the best thing to do to prevent pregnancy and over population!

The doctor should give you pain meds for when she comes home. If not ask them for some. Another thing you can do is make a comfy place for her to rest when she gets home where she doesn't have to jump to get up or down. Try to put things close together such as put the food & water somewhat near the litter box and the pet bed also in close proxemity to the rest of her things so that she doesn't have to walk very far. When you pick her up, don't pick her up by the tummy, do it by the chest and butt end. She will be pretty sore and maybe a little sleepy for a couple of days but she will bounce back in no time. Good Luck.

Make sure she has a comfy bed near the floor. Jumping, either up or down, is painful after being spayed. If she has a favorite mat, put it in a box or basket where she can access it easily. Also, put some water near her bed so she doesn't have to walk very far to get it. Once the aenesthetic wears off, most cats make a pretty quick comeback. Keep a close eye on her incision for any swelling that could indicate infection. Keep other pets away from her for a while. Basically treat her like you would want to be treated after major surgery.

Your vet will go through all the post-op care with you, but since I'm a vet nurse I'm going to give you a heads-up :-)

Your cat will just need a comfy warm bed when she gets home, and not too much noise and activity around her. She may feel groggy from the anaesthetic for the rest of the day but should be quite back to normal by tomorrow.

You can feed your cat as usual when she gets home, don't be worried if she doesn't eat for the rest of the day. She should be eating again by the next day.

Buy her a food treat if you want to spoil her a bit! Not a toy treat tho - you need to avoid her running around until she's had her stitches out, so if she goes outside at all best to keep her in until her stitches have come out in two weeks.

Don't feel guilty, she may be groggy but I doubt she's cross with you, she doesn't know what's happened to her, just that she feels weird! You've definitely done the right thing!

When I had my 3 cats spayed, by the time they got home they were pretty much OK, just a little groggy from the anesthesia. The vet told me not to feed them or give them water for a few hours to prevent vomiting from the anesthesia but they were really hungry and thirsty so I did give them a little bit of food and water and they were OK. No treats. You should not give cats any treats. They are bad for them. Just read the ingredients on the package. Also, if you can, buy them some good quality cat foods like California Natural, Innova, Solid Gold, and Felidae. Stay away from pet foods that are sold at supermarkets like Purina, Iams, Eukanuba, Whiskas, etc. They are really bad for animals. Their ingredients are mostly corn, rice, corn or wheat gluten, by products etc.

She will be woozy when she gets home, and probably want to sleep quite a bit.
They usually tell you not to give them anything but water the first night then food the next day because the anesthetic will make them sick. When I brought my cat home he was starving from not having eaten, so I fed him....boy, what a mistake (and a mess). So use caution.

She will lick her stitches, but that is normal. Just watch to see that she doesn't try to pull them out (though I did have one do that, and it healed fine).

Just remember, she's just had a hysterectomy. Just let her be and she will be fine. In a week, she'll be back to normal.

Nope, she'll take care of herself pretty much. She'll keep herself quiet and will be calm until she feels better.

She'll get antibiotics and probably pain meds, just give them to her as prescribed.

She might not eat today and she will probably be lethargic for a few days. By the end of the week she should be feeling more like her old self.

when they come back they may bee a bit drowsy, just keep her in a quiet place and leave some milk close by. She won't eat or play for a while. and if you want you can softly rub her around the wound with one finger, it makes the pain softer, but some cats don't want you to.
