My cat took off three nights ago. Is this common for them to do and what are the chances of her coming home. A few people think they have spotted her.

sometimes they do go for a few days looking for a cat mate but on the other hand could be lost, i would try to find the cat asap so no car will hit her or get attacked by a dog etc etc.
good luck.

Why Do Cats Disappear

Totally normal. I had a cat that took off, I was sure I found it dead on the road... and 4 months later he came back. Some cats do, some cats come home every night. I wouldn't worry too much.

i had a male cat who would do the same thing you cat is probably just entering it's sex cycle so it goes out and looks for other cats. I would suggest whne you find him or her you try to keep her inside because my cat didn't come back and one of my neighbors found him dead and attacked bu a coyote. i didn't think it was a big deal at first, because he would come back but now I regret not paying more attention. The first time he left he came back two nights later so I though it was fine but maybe leave some food out or catnip.

You should put up signs, and also check with local shelters and vets to see if someone brought her in. I agree with walking and calling for her. I would also put out canned food to bait her to come back home. You could also rent or borrow a humane trap. If you plan on letting her outisde, make sure she's spayed, vaccinated and microchipped. But ideally, they should stay inside, which is difficult when you have sneaky cats like I do.

If she hasn't been spayed (fixed) then she could be off in the bush making babies. But to be gone any longer might mean trouble. Take a walk and call her - it won't hurt. Also, check under the bushes; cats that are not feeling well will go and hide.

Good luck!

Is she fixed? she might be in heat. Just put out some tasty food, and she will most likely come back. cats only leave if they find a new home or are dead. otherwise they come back. but she is probaly just out exploreing, although three days seems like a long time someone is probaly feeding her.

Males that have not been neutered will do that. Often they return- but it's not something you really want to bet on. Sometimes females do too.

You may want to go get her and bring her home.
