Personally I think the best names are the ones that reflect both your personality and his!
I can't stand names that have anything to do with how the cat looks, such as Snowy for a white cat, Midnight for a black cat, etc!
My cat is called Morrissey, because my boyfriend and I both love music and we both love The Smiths!
So if you have a favourite band and music is your passion, naming him after that would be great!
Alternatively, pick your favourite Disney or movie character. Look at your hobbies and what you like to do. For example, if you love tennis, call him Racket! If you love cooking, call him Pepper! One of my friends loves the tv show Friends, so her two cats are called Chandler and Monica!
Good luck thinking of something! If you need any more help tell me more about your interests and I'll come up with some names for you!
xx Emmie

Something you won't feel a complete idiot calling out in public. Honestly! Some people give their pets really dumb names then you hear them late at night calling it. I call my male cat 'baby'. Not really appropriate for an older cat. Try something that will sound ok when the cat is not a cute, furry little bundle of joy but a grown up moggie. You have to live with it forever.

Whats your fav mag? Would that be a suitable name?
Or what about a character from your fav program. My brother called his Davros after the leader of the Daleks.
We have named one of ours after two of our kids, the first two letters of one and the last three of another. the other is named after a car brand. Bit quirky but it suits him well now. Their brother who was hand reared by someone else named them Smirnoff which I think is pretty cool.

We had a stray farm cat that sort of adopted us. At the time it had a litter of kittens - so as it wasn't ours we just called it "Mum Puss"....but over the years that sort of just evolved into "Bum Puss" and then "Bummy."
We had another cat which was long haired and we went for an incredibly original name for it "Hairy."
Funny someone called "Emmie" answered this question too....we used to have a cat called that too.

My brother liked to name our cats names that can be yelled with ease: Fred, Ralph, Norton, Stella...
I've always wanted to name a pet You. That way I could open the front door and say, "Hey, You, get in here!"
