Momma cat started hanging around my yard back in May 2006, then in July I found she had 4 kittens in the warehouse next to my house. Finally trapped them all and they've been in the house since, with multiple checkups, shots, spaying, etc. and no one's ever attempted to return to the 'great out doors'. Lately, I've seen all of them staring out the windows and wonder if I should risk releasing them or just allow them to keep wondering about the world beyond. None of them ever tries to rush the outside door when it's open, but lately Momma has been acting VERY nasty to her kids. They're about 11 months old , and they only need to go within 1 foot of her body and she's rendering nasty growls to them. They never return them and usually just run for cover. I give Momma a stern name calling and she'll just turn to me and render the sweetest meow. On occasion she'll even run the kids off the bed if they attempt to join me OR her if she's up there alone. They aren't trying to nurse, just visit

I think she wants you/your home to herself. She wants to let them know she's in charge and they had better not get comfortable. But if you are keeping all of them better probably give mama some room to herself. Even tho she's "fixed" she may still feel that spring fever at the moment. But for more clarification from experts

She's just doing what human parents should do. When the kids get too old, they get kicked out of the nest. She's just staking her claim. Have you ever thought about finding homes for the kittens? I mean, five cats? What are you, one of those cat collector ladies?

because the kittens are too old....they are getting on her nervous...sounds like its time to adopt them out..They don't usually stay together..not even in the wild...babies are usually sent off on their own life...You are just annoying the mom cat.
