Right, my cat is old I don't know how old as he is a stray that adopted me about 6 months ago. About an hour ago I came down the stairs to where he was, he started meowing furiously at me which is somewhat odd for him as he is rather layed back. I of course went and petted him checked he had food because I thought he might be hungry he followed me but I noticed he was shaking like he was really cold although it's certainly not cold in my kitchen. I have stayed with him for the last hour or so I am really concerned he is acting very oddly like he will come up to me and try and sit on me *He never does this* when I touch his tummy he hisses at me but then comes back over to me straight away wanting attention. He hasn't eaten anything unusually, he ate a new pack of food today but it's the normal brand we have. My problem is I don't know how to help him. I don't have a vets I can take him to, my mum and dad are on holiday, my gran and grandpa are on holiday, my sister is at work, I

I don't really talk to any of my neighbours, I am thinking of phoning my aunt. @ - person who said he was probably dying, I did think of that but I don't think he is that bad. I didn't see any ticks but he has a black coat so it was difficult to see

Call your vet and explain the cat's symptoms, and ask what you should do. Did your parents give you a phone number for a responsible adult that you could contact if there's an emergency? I think you should call that person & explain the situation, and ask if they could please take you & your cat to the vet.
My best to you & your cat! I hope he'll be allright.

Call the vet and describe little man's symptoms. As a rule, when in doubt, take the cat to the vet.
If you can call around and find a ride and a pet carrier. Ask around about borrowing a carrier... Wrap him up in a towel and call a cab if necessary.
Even skilled vets can have trouble diagnosing without an exam. The types of things they are going to ask are what has the cat been eating and/or exposed to. If he ate earlier and everything seemed normal an hour or so ago, then the shivering could be an indication of exposure to some type of toxin that's affecting little dudes nervous system. Are his pupils equal size?... Do you see the third eyelid partially drawn over the eyes? Are his eyes not clear and bright? These are all indicators of exposure to neuro toxins and possible food poisoning.
Has little man been outside?... near cars?... small pools of antifreeze are sweet tasting to cats and they will drink with dire consequences. Anything in the house that he could have gotten into?... cleaning solutions, pesticides???...
Do you have a litter box for him where you can observe what condition his urine and feces are in?... Diareaha?... Cloudy or pinkish urine?... unusual odors?....
Unfortunately cats make terrible patients and usually you need to establish a relationship with a vet that has considerable experience with cats. MORE IMPORTANTLY, you have to be as observant a detective as you can possibly be. Your little guy's agitation and shaking are definitely a sign that something's wrong, but he still seems to have energy... moving around and so forth, so the FASTER YOU REACT THE BETTER.
There is a chance that there is something in the vicinity that is frightening the cat... they do shiver when afraid... but I rather think you have a dude with toxic exposure or possibly a digestive tract blockage.... VERY HARD TO SAY WITH INFO PROVIDED.... SO GET LITTLE MAN TO THE VET!

First thing to do is check his nose it should be cool (not cold) and wet, if it is not he most probably has a fever. If he has a litter box inside check for signs of diarrhea or anything odd. You may want to offer him some fresh water and observe for awhile. As soon as possible you need to have a vet look at him, even if it means taking him to your local animal shelter, and you can even try calling an emergency vet in your area. If he is an indoor/outdoor cat the possibilities are endless of what could be wrong, but a big danger is feline leukemia. Remain calm, like children, pets can feel your stress level. If you cant get him any help right now try to make him as comfortable as possible until you can get him the help he needs. ( I hope you did check his food against those on that recall list that happened recently-www.menufoods.com) Good luck.

It could be any number of things from a tick to a fatal illness. You mentioned it's an older cat, and you probably aren't sure if it's had it's proper shots. Cats are usually sensitive about their underside as it is a weak area when they are attacked. Cats are very prone to Urinary tract infections. That may also explain the sensitive tum. Has the cat eaten or drank normallly over the last few days? How clean is its litter area? You might do a search online for your cat's symptoms and see what may be available .

Check him all over, all through his fur, in his ears and the creases of his legs etc, the base of his tail. Does he have a tick?
It sounds like a tick to me. If he's shaky and wanting so much attention. If so, you need to pull it out with some tweezers, and get him to a vet when you get a chance!

If you have neighbors (I assume you do), you can ask them for a ride to the vet clinic. They can contact your parents, and set up a payment plan, if needed.
If you are able to reach your aunt, then do so. This may be serious, or it may be nothing at all, but it's better to be safe, than sorry. If this was my cat, I'd do whatever I had to, to get a vet to see him.

he's in all probability high quality - cats in specific cases circulate via behavioral differences as they become previous (think of of a crotchety previous individual you comprehend - they weren't continuously that way - it relatively is like that), yet i could get him in to a vet for some bloodwork just to be sure. it may inform you if he's having subject concerns with any of his organs/structures that are making him act this sort. cats in specific cases do no longer prepare they're having a actual difficulty until eventually it relatively is gotten particularly far alongside, and being anti-social is definitely certainly one of the procedures they prepare it - it relatively is nature's way of retaining them secure from predators by skill of no longer permitting them to look vulnerable. a minimum of, bloodwork now supply you a clue as to what point his structures are working at, in case you pick something to evaluate it to later ought to issues arise as he gets older.

He does sound like he's sick: Kitties who are shivering and asking for attention when they usually don't most times are. You and your sister will have to take him to a vet. Check the phone book and try to set an appointment.
Good luck!

sorry. sure u dont wanna hear it. its probably dying. it comes back to you cause its a dumb animal, you are comfort, and its scared. most likely the best you can do for him is just comfort, avoid touching the belly, and make him comfortable on the way out. if you have any way to get him to a vet, get him there. if not be a cat hospice.

Does he have a thick coat? maybe it's hairballs, and that's why he won't eat. Make sure that the food you giving him is not included in the recall list.
Does he have a fever? maybe you can call a vet and explain your situation. They will help.
