Try to get it out by yourself if you can keep the cat still. I don't see why people are saying that you must go to the vet because I have had cats get ticks there when I lived in the country. Just get a firm grasp and gently yank.

If it is in a difficult spot, or you feel nervous, then a vet or someone experienced might be best.

whenever an animal has ticks they should be treated by a vet. If you remove the tick, but not the head the cat can get a pretty nasty infection. Also are you sure it's a tick? I've never seen or heard of this happening before.

Hello..if the tick is really on the roof of the cats mouth, doubt it's going to be staying there long...suppose you could try some anbesol or baby ora gel...tooth nummer - available at pharmacys or grocery stores, wal marts, etc & put it on the tick...see if that makes it let go..or you can try gently pulling on it with tweezers or plyers, tho someone has to hold the cats mouth open to do these things, it's not a one person job on a cat ...Take Care :)

I really think you should take your cat to the vet and have it checked and removed there. It would be awful to possibly hurt your cat, or cause excessive bleeding by pulling it off. Cats also don't like to have people mess around in their mouths, so it could accidentally bite you. I would have definitely have a vet do it!

The roof of his mouth? As in, inside? Fairly unlikely! Ticks do not tend to attach to mucous membrane surfaces (i.e the mouth).

No you should certainly not pull it off yourself, you should take the animal to a vet.

Wow. That's... different. It needs to be removed as soon as is possible, so get a pair of tweezers and grasp the tick AT THE HEAD, as close to the cat's skin as you can get. Your cat may need to be tested for Lyme disease if swelling and redness in the mouth occurs.

It is always best to seek professional help, but if ytou decide to do it your self besure you get the entire tick or it will grow back the mouth has alot of blood vessels in it so it will bleed profusely

for this you really need to take the cat into a vet because of where it is placed. it is also important to get the cat tested for lyme disease and other tick borne diseases.
