My dog decided to chase my cat today (very usual), except after this, my cat was limping and has held her left hind leg close to her body while laying on the couch. It looked as if she tweaked her body when getting away from our dog. It is Christmas Eve and no local vets are open. Does anyone have any ideas to what it might be, or have any treatment ideas?

I need a pet to love. The problem is I can’t decide between a dog and cat and getting both is not an option. I had a bad experience that last 5 long years with a cocker spaniel. I love dogs, but I’m afraid of dogs now. He was the worst dog I ever owned. He barked ALL the time at EVERYTHING. After 4 years of pottying on command he decided he had enough of going outside to use the bathroom. At this time I learned I had diabetes and serious high blood pressure. When I came home from work I had to clean poop smashed into the bottom of his crate. Thinking this was a health issue I took him to the vet only yo find out he was in perfect health. Training classes didn’t work. I had a pit-bull who was potty trained to a litter box and she was an angel and this little dog was a demon from hell. I’m afraid of having an experience like this again. I want a dog but I can’t go through that again. I want a pet that is happy on my lap. I would enjoy it going everywhere with me, but I don’t think cats are like that. What toy dog breeds do you guys suggest or would a cat just be a better option.

Mature female spayed siamese approaches shower when it's running and looks in. Has been known to actually jump in the shower briefly. After shower is off climbs in tub and meows pleading. Sniffs around bath mat. I thought water was a problem but she has plenty of fresh by her food. I placed a cup of fresh water in tub and she ignores it mostly. Stranger yet is the fact we have well water in the shower with a stinky sulphur content we don't drink nor does she. Are they ever attracted to sulphur? Late at night when I go into the bathroom she hops in the tub and starts crying.

My little brother and I are getting a new kitten, which will be our only pet, in a few days. The problem is that my mom says that although she will feed it and give it water and all, she will most definitely not play with it or keep it company. The thing is that me and my brother will be at school and I'm wondering if the kitten will be lonely. We live in an apartment (no yard or terrace; it's a high rise building) but we have lots of kitty toys.

Will the kitten be too lonely without company while we are at school?

I don't think getting two is an option, my parents aren't huge cat people and have agreed after much persuading.

Help? :)

I found this cat when it was 6 weeks old and kept it outside for 2 years ( I live in FL). My neighbors (old hags) reported me to Animal Control and fined me $500 for having an outside cat when in my association we are not allowed to have pets kept outside. So I brought my cat to work and it's a small used car dealership, my boss loved it and for 2 years my cat has been living outside at the car dealership. Now my boss is telling me that his cars are getting scatched, he ruined things, damaged stuff, etc. So now my question is, should I take him back to where I live and tell my neighbors that this isn't my cat (since it lives outside) and it's been two years. It has no collar. I will of course feed him in the back yard. But I'm afraid my old hags of neighbors will report me, but can't prove anything, but yet have the pound take him away. There are two other cats in my neighbor hood that are outside but they live inside too, they aren't constantly outside cats. What should I do?

When a cat licks herself and you touch her and she is wet, are your hands dirty and do you need to wash them immediately?
Or is cat saliva generally clean?

I have 3 bowls of water for him, in various places, and he takes a bath in each one, which leaves him no drinking water. I do not know what to do.

She does NOT have a urinary infection - I've had that checked. My cat is 10 and is and has always been an indoor only cat and has had the run of the house but lately she has been having moments of insanity for a lack of better words. Racing through the house for no reason and attacking the curtains and now peeing under the tree and on furniture!! I've had her since birth but she is about to learn how to fly if I can't get her to stop this behavior. Can cats get loopy in their old age? I'm calling the vet on Tuesday but wondering if anyone has experienced any of this with cats.

My friend recently had to have her 9mth old kitty's teeth cleaned which the vet attributed to her being fed wet food, and said dry is much better for them- have you heard this before?

My little kitty is obsessed with the bathroom. He always sits on the side of the bath when I bath, or on the floor when the shower is on, he scratches at the door if you are in there without him, jumps on your lap when you are on the loo, and comes running when he hears the electric toothbrush as he knows the tap will be on and loves to stick his paw under it! Anyone else's cat likes to join them in the bath? Does she/ he chase your toes and pop the bubbles?!

I adopted a cat a few months ago, and he's just full of personality.
But that's the problem. He's very clingy. I'll wake up at night with him rubbing his face on my nose and hands, and purring loudly. He doesn't let me sleep for more than 4 hours at a time, and lately it's been getting worse and worse. He whines and jumps on everything. What am I supposed to do about him?

I have a steak that I took out of the freezer a day ago and won't be able to use it before it has to be thrown out. Is there any harm in cooking it and feeding it to my 2 kittens, or is steak harmful to them? Would it cause them to stop eating their kitten food? Right now, they get Purina ONE kitten dry free fed as well as assorted kitten wet foods twice a day/

I found this kitten after the hurricane and brought him home. he lived outside for a long time and then disappeared. I thought someone stole him or something happened to him because he was always good about coming home. Well, after a WHOLE YEAR he shows up again. I take him and have him fixed, bring him home and he disappears again. This time, someone called me and I went to retrieve him. I want to keep him indoors this time.
I have tried it and it's not easy, because he's getting on everything, clawing things, although he IS using the litterbox. I have another cat that I have had for 5 years, she's not too fond of it, but then again, she's not too fond of anything. SHe's always hissing at him and stufff, I know this is making everything more stressful.
Last nights sleep SUCKED. How can I help everyone adjust ?
He's a sweet cat, and I think my other cat will get used to him--serious answers only- sick or mean answers will be reported to moderators. Thanks in advance!

My cat causes so much destruction around the house with his claws. I got hurt two times by him because of his claws. He's about three months old, is this too old to get declawed? And also, does it hurt for cats to get declawed? My dad said that the only reason he doesn't want our cat to be declawed is that it's very painful for the cat.
