I just saw an injured owl in a vacant lot in our neighborhood. I think he was hit by a car and he can't fly. Anything I can do to help him?

visited petsmart today. I like to look at the different birds. but i have never wanted to buy from them. However, today there was this quaker parrot that was just too sweet. he was in a glass flight cage with small air vents. I talked into the air vent and it came running up to the air vent looking and smiling and trying to get out lol. I went to the other side of the cage, and called it and it trotted over to the other side. I have fallen in love with this bird!!! but, i left it there. i don't want to make any split decisions. What are the quirks and qualities of these birds? I've heard that they are loud...but that wouldn't bother me. Also, I have a cockatiel. would they get along? do quakers like scritches and lovin and TONS of attention? My cockatiel is with me all day long lol. she is never in her cage and rarely not on my shoulder. will a quaker like to do the same? my tiel goes everywhere with me when its not cold too!

I only hear it when I'm in the woods in Florida, and never see it.
It has this creepy, hollow flute song. It consists of maybe four notes, and reminds me a little of Zelda music. Dosen't sing very often, kind of quiet. Whenever I hear it it sends a shiver up my spine (Usually because I'm horseback riding or something and it's quiet) and I never know where it came from!
Does anybody know what kind of bird this is? Thanks!

I think I have now decided that an Eclectus would be the best parrot for me. Thanks for all the input! Now, I just need to decide between male and female. I have read that females can be more nippy but I know all birds will be different. What differences have you experienced between the males and females. Is the talking ability different? Does one bond better with their owner? Any known problems with either sex?

I did that little blank there to catch your attention! Which kind of bird should I get? A parakeet or lovebirds? Or a cockatiel? Any bird that's quiet. I'm looking for previous bird owners or current bird owners or anyone that knows a lot about different types of birds!

I really want a pet bird, but my mom hates pets, so I figured I'd just wait the year and a half until I'm off to college to get one (provided I can find a pet-compatible place to stay and all that). Anyway, here's my question (actually I have two).

Reading around here, I see a lot of people talking about how their birds watch TV with them and talk with them and stuff. Is that really true? They just sit there and watch TV with you, or watch you while your on the computer? Maybe it seems a little strange to someone who doesn't have pets, I dunno.

Also, I took my little cousin to the pet store and saw this bird that was pretty much all red (more of a scarlet), but had a few purple spots. No, it wasn't a parrot, but it looked really cool and I wanted to know what kind it was. It was a medium-sized bird, bigger than cokatoos but smaller than those big parrots. Anyway know what that was?

Also, last random question: can you pet birds? The ones at the pet store just bit me.

I have been researching possible parrots that I would like. I have narrowed down my choices to either an Eclectus or a Goffin Cockatoo. I would like one that is not that noisey but also a loving bird that is fun to interact with. Any opinions on which would be a better choice?

i'm a first time mcaw owner his name is charlie he's 2 years old,i've had him 1 and 1/2 yrs.Mcaws are very demanding loud some what destructive and alot is involved raising and caring for these types of birds, but i'm patient and slowly learning about him love him to death.A resent trip to pet store i was aproached by a employee who knows me and has seen me come there for 6 years, she told me her freind has a 5 yr old mcaw and she wants give him a good home she loves him but can't keep him,and she wants a person who knows the upkeep and dificultys with mcaws, and is willing to take on the responsibility and keep.Which i'm prepared to do and i know a lil about so i agreed to take him,but i'm unsure how i should introduce him into my home and make him comfortable. And i'm unsure if two of the same breed and same sex birds can get along, and how and when i should introduce them to each other.does anyone have any helpfull ideas or free information sites on mcaws?
