I have kept many birds - mainly cockateils. None of them were ever sick, they just died of old age.
Are parrots reputedly sick birds?

What about p****d as a newt? Did you ever see a drunken newt?

My cockatiel and my conure live in a large cage together and get along. I noticed the cockatiel layed 3 eggs and warms them everyday. I have also noticed that she shoos away the conure, which I believe is a male, when he comes near the eggs. Should I leave the male in the cage or take him out? Also, I'm very new to breeding birds and don't know anything about it. So some tips would be helpful. Thanks. =]

I've had my male parakeet for almost a year and bought him a mate a few months ago. I came home tonight and found the female on the bottom of the cage dead. I took her out of the cage and buried her. When I came back he was pacing all over the cage and chirping really loud which is extremely unusual for him. I took him out and have been holding him and letting him roam around my room like he used to when he was alone but I'm worried about him because of his behavior. My mom said we'll buy him a new mate tomorrow but I don't know if that's too soon or not. Is it bad for a parakeet to lose its mate? I know they aren't love birds but his behavior is worrying me. (it's 6:36pm here so...no pet stores and no vets are open so I can't call them)

My sister is in the dilemma of choosing which bird to choose: either a Quaker Parakeet or a Parrotlet. Right now she's leaning toward a Parrotlet, but she's not sure. Don't try to suggest any other kind of bird, please, she's sure of the two and has researched them both. We have a fairly large family, and the most people the bird needs to bond with is one or two, but it should be able to be friends with more than that. We have had lots of experience with training birds, so whether it's nippy or not isn't that big of a problem.

We bought him from a pet store, coz the owner didn't want him/her anymore. They say he is 5 to 6 yrs old or even older. Is he trying to get off on my arm? is this good or bad? by the way, he only does it to me, coz he is wary with my husband.

I just accidently stepped on my bird's tail when it was roaming around the house and it was frightened and it pulled all its tail feathers off. Should i be worried about anything? About blood feathers? Will the feathers grow back?Should i take it to a vet? I'm just worried that it can die or something.

I have an old parakeet, who suddenly started losing feathers around one eye, which is now swollen underneath. I cannot afford to take him to the vet ($98 for the exam alone) especially due to his age. Does anyone know if it is safe to put erythromycin 0.5% ointment on the bird's eye?

Both my birds bite. I can't take them out, reach into the cage without them trying to bite or nailing me. I'm getting real sick of it. Any suggestions as to what I can do to stop or curb this? Thanks.

They are not kept in the same cage as one another. I just want to know if it is safe to put them together outside of the cage.

It's been a month since my two cockatiel babies hatched. he first one is fine, it doesn't hiss, bite and it isn't disabled. The second chick hisses at me even though I played with both of them alot everyday. It's also disabled, it can't walk properly and it can't stand on my finger for a long time like my first one can. The second is also vey scared, if the phone rings , it walks backwords really fast and falls of the table but I catch it. Do you know why the second is scared and not friendly like the first one? Also, they are parents-fed , I just play with them.

I would like to know how many budgies would fit in my cage I have. The cage is:

Depth: 15 inches
Width: 34.5 inches
Length: 42 inchs. I currently have 3 budgies in it and they are absolutly fine. But I would like maybe one more. They get plenty of exercise outside the cage (about 4 hours a day)

Here is a picture of the cage:

That is quite an old photo of it. It now has much more toys and climbing equipment in it
