It depends on the brand. Some seed blends have hemp seeds in them, but I have been told that these are steralized.
Officially, your birds should have 80% pellets, 15% fresh fruits and veggies, and only 5% seed in their diets if you did not already know.

Hi there. There are pot seeds in some blends. They are usually referred to as hemp seeds. I even bought an organic brownie mix with hemp seeds in it. There is no THC in the seeds so no euphoric effects for the bird. Hemp seeds don't look like millet seeds at all. Birds do enjoy them as a treat. Pellet food is best. Studies show that an all seed diet leads to malnutrition. There is no set standard yet. The man who developed Zupreem also designed Science Diet for dogs and cats. I use 10% seed, 20% fruits and veggies and the rest pellets. Have a tweet year.

Yes, she can eat them and it is a sign that your seed is good. Putting some seed from each new pack between to damp paper towels is good way to make sure the seeds will sprout. If they won't sprout they may not be as healthful as those that do sprout. It's probably a grass seed but there are many kinds of wheat and barley and other seeds fed to birds. In fact, she will be healthier if she eats fresh food. Birds only live on seeds in the wild if it's winter and there is no other food. Feeding birds on seeds only is like making them have winter forever.

Nope it is just Millet. It is a tiny , beige colored seed. They really grow well, when you place them in cheese cloth and dampen with frequent water. The parakeets love that. Another good thing to do, is wash all your bird seed. Place about one cup into a small bowl and cover with cold water. Slosh it around and drain. Then rinse again. Do this about three times. Drain well. Feed the birds this washed grain. They Love it. It is a surprises all the dust particles you wash out of your feed. Try it. The birds like it. They Love the wet seeds.

yes there are. I used to work at a pet store and we made our own blends of birdfood. we'd get 50lb bags of all sorts of stuff. plain parakeet seed, sunflower seed, flax seed, dried spinach and carrots. gosh, there were so many, i remember carrying those bags in.
anyway, we'd also get 50lb bags of hemp seeds. they were said to be sterylized so they wouldn't grow. there was a rumor saying that a few seeds per bag slipped through the sterylization process but we never tried to test it. from what i remember, birds didn't love these hemp seeds. they loved millet. it was like crack for them. there was millet and megamillet for the bigger birds.

There shouldn't be, but anything can happen. The seeds look an awful lot like millet, enough that I can't tell them apart; then again, I don't spend much time with pot or birdseed.

I doubt it, but you should watch for warning signs in your bird's behavior:
1. Increased hunger
2. Loud chirping at 4:20
3. Decreased motivation, inattention to details
4. Experimentation with harder drugs
5. New friends
6. Always asking to borrow money.
