I bought a new nest box made of wood for my parakeet i put some wood bedding the female takes it out why?

Parakeets do not need nesting material. Parakeets usually lay their eggs in a hollow in a tree with the eggs laying right on the bottom. If you look at your nest box, if it is made for a parakeet, there will be a little concave section in the middle of the box. This is where she will lay her eggs. She doesn't want the nesting material and that is why she is taking it out. If your parakeet doesn't have a mate she will continue to lay eggs but they will not hatch. She has had to be bred to produce baby parakeets.

Hi there. I think instinct dictates that she makes the nest. Use shredded newspaper, string, cotton and place it in a corner of the cage. That way she will pick and choose. Have a tweet year.

she make want to make the next her way. When i had a budgie the next box i gave here had a depression in the bottom. She lined th box and depression with her feathers and she shredded paper towels that i had used to line the bottom of her cage.

It's her house, not yours! She just wants to redecorate!! What would you do if your mom bought you some decorative vases and you put them on your table and she kept moving them to the counter where you don't like the way they look? Let the birds do what they want, it's not hurting you lol!!!
