My sister is in the dilemma of choosing which bird to choose: either a Quaker Parakeet or a Parrotlet. Right now she's leaning toward a Parrotlet, but she's not sure. Don't try to suggest any other kind of bird, please, she's sure of the two and has researched them both. We have a fairly large family, and the most people the bird needs to bond with is one or two, but it should be able to be friends with more than that. We have had lots of experience with training birds, so whether it's nippy or not isn't that big of a problem.

I have been owned by both.. I still have my parrolet and he is wonderful I would suggest getting one of them. Quaker parrots are sometimes a big challenge and all of the ones I have met have bonded only with one person as my parrotlet is alot more social.... Quakers I have met (I do not say ALL) have also been moody.. something to consider... also try and rescue if possible...

there is also a great group to join and they have helped me in many occasions and might be able to help you with your decision....they are a great bunch of people and will help you in any way they can.. there is also a parrot placement page to look at... smile.... good luck with your choice..

quakers are cute but they can b very noisy. I had 2 of them and i loved them 2 death but they really do have different personalities. Some can be just loveable and some and be mean and nasty and not ever be that loveble bird you want. I guess i wouldnt get another quaker again. go with the parrotlet

Hi. I believe you already did your research. Quakers tend to favor one owner, are very noisy, and are fairly good talkers. Parrotlets are beautiful, some talk, most don't and are more demure. Have a great time choosing and have a tweet year.

I don't know much about either breed, but I would make sure that quakers are allowed in the state that you live in. They are illegal in some and regulated in others.
