It's been a month since my two cockatiel babies hatched. he first one is fine, it doesn't hiss, bite and it isn't disabled. The second chick hisses at me even though I played with both of them alot everyday. It's also disabled, it can't walk properly and it can't stand on my finger for a long time like my first one can. The second is also vey scared, if the phone rings , it walks backwords really fast and falls of the table but I catch it. Do you know why the second is scared and not friendly like the first one? Also, they are parents-fed , I just play with them.

Because he's disabled he feels he cant defend himself as well. He hisses to scare you off so that you wont think about hurting him. Just continue to play with him and if he becomes agitated let him be alone for a while. He'll become more secure with time.

I raised several teil babies. The females seem to be harder to hand tame than the males, they are more independent. All of my babies went through a stage where they hissed at me especially if they were parent reared. At one month they should be ready for you to take over as parent and to begin feeding them by hand.( you can find hatchling mix at your pet store) They should be eating only 3-4 times per day at this point. Easy enough to fit into a daily schedule. This is the best way to get them hand tame. They are like kids, they mature at different rates. Also the egg that was laid first and hatches first will grow and mature before the later ones a few days to a week can be a big difference to a bird that is full grown by six months old. Have faith and continue working with both birds. The "disabled" one may surprise you.

One of my babies was disabled at one 12 days old, when he was attacked in the nest by another bird. He lost most of his beak and has nerve damage at the base of his tail. I hand fed him for 6 months with ground up pellets and mashed fruit and veggies. He is now 12 months old, his beak has grown back only partially but he now eats pellets and finely chopped fruit and veg on his own. He is such a joy, he talks and whistles non stop and will sit on my shoulder all day if I let him, BUT HE WILL NOT let me pet him like my other birds will. He doesn't like to be held, hisses and trys to bite, I sometimes think he remembers being hurt, so he likes to stay in control. So stick with it, he's only young and he might turn out to be a good friend.

hey congrats on the toddlers!! ok newly hatched chicks do not want any nutrients for the first 10 - 15 hours after hatching, days 4- 9 feed them each 2 hours around the clock, yet you do not no longer ought to feed them from 12am - 5 am. An the formulation must have the consistency of creamy milk. Days 10 - 14 Feed them each 3 hours from 5 am to twelve am nonetheless with the consistency of creamy milk, days 15 - 20 Feed them each 4 hours in a thicker formulation. After 20 days they ought to bypass right into a cage with low perches grant them apples and twigs from a willow or apple tree they are very curious at this age days 21 - 25 grant seeds and different vegetables and culmination and feed them formulation 3 cases an afternoon good success!! And convinced its regularly occurring for there heads to be large bobblie at that age at about 14 days they could help there heads.

I have two handicapped cockatiels. They are like children and they both have different personalities. With some time and patience the handicapped bird in time will probably bond with you even more than the other bird. Be patient and good luck!!!

The second one is disabled and instinctively knows it cannot survive like the others. There may also be other anomalies. I guess you can care for this little one until it dies. Bless you and yours.

Maybe your little dog can't get used to you. Try to make it to understand that you want to be its friend.
