I just accidently stepped on my bird's tail when it was roaming around the house and it was frightened and it pulled all its tail feathers off. Should i be worried about anything? About blood feathers? Will the feathers grow back?Should i take it to a vet? I'm just worried that it can die or something.

It probably won't die. The feathers WILL grow back. Keep an eye on the area to make sure it doesn't get infected. If you're super concerned then you should take him to the vet.

The bird's tail feathers are used for balance, so he might have trouble walking or flying, I'm pretty sure not for very long, but if so I would take it to the vet, the feathers should grow back, because they usually molt, or loose feathers ever 6 months/weeks and sometimes they loose thier tail feathers and they grow back so, as I said.

When your bird moults the tail feathers will begin to grow back. Same goes for the blood feathers. When they loose one, the next one grows back. Usually it takes two or three months to grow back. No need to take to the Vet. Nothing he/she can do except tell you, that they will grow back. It won't die, just look odd or ugly for a while. They will grow back.

The tail will grow back. It may take a few weeks. Interestingly, birds when frightened can release their tail feathers. They use this as a defense mechanism, like a lizard would. More than once when I was showing canaries I would catch a bird to put it in the show cage and accidently scare it where it would lose its tail, thus making it not showable. (Yes, there are birds shows just like dog shows!)

Hi there. The tail feathers will grow back. Don't worry. They come out easier than I thought. I had a similar experience. Relax and the bird should forgive and forget. Have a tweet year.

Accidents happen. If there is no bleeding currently, then you are fine. The feathers will grow back in time.

If there is bleeding, you can stop the bleeding with corn starch or flour. Do not use syptic powder or sticks on skin or feathers.

Your bird may be a little skittish for a while. Take your time and spoil him for a few days.

If the follicle continues to bleed apply pressure with your finger until the bleeding stops. If the bleeding continues, apply a styptic powder, and continue applying pressure. A follicle usually does not continue to bleed after the feather is removed. If the bleeding continues, part of the feather shaft may still be in the follicle and the "faucet" will still be open. In this case, continue to apply pressure to the follicle and take your bird to a vet ASAP.

Your bird is fine. They will moult their tail feathers in this situation.
They will grow back amazingly fast.
Just be glad it was only the tail feathers.
