For starters this question is in the pet section you should have put it in the maths section but....
when you square a number you multiply it by itself for example 3x3, 10x10 etc. The square root of a number is the "root" or single number that when squared (multiplied by itself) will produce the number in question. For example 5 squared= 25 [5x5] and the square root of 25 is 5.
Most modern calculators have a "square root" function so that you can put in difficult numbers such as fractions and still find the square root perhaps you should consider getting one.
