I have a 5 or 6 year old grey cockatiel. she's always been really shy and a bit skittish, and I think this may have somehow harmed her. I got home and she's lying in her food bowl, which is at the bottom of the cage, but she was standing. I put new water and food in her cage, and she's eaten and drank a little bit, but she still seems very weak. usually when I try picking her up, she runs away. now she lets me. she's been looking around with her head(just moving her head, pretty much), and seems a little confused. she HAS laid eggs this summer(first season she's done it), and she has a green-cheek conure as a cagemate. I think she may have fallen off her perch or something, but I can't be certain, and she's really good at balancing, anyway. she seems a bit weak, and has been using her beak to actually grab on to something and pull herself instead of just walking. I'll take her to the vet sometime this weekend with my dad, but I'll call a vet right now if I need to.

My family has three cockatiels, all in the same cage in our living room. We have this big stick structure for them to play around on over top of their cage and they absolutely love it! But a few times a day, the cockatiels will either jump off because they get scared or they just simply want some attention from us. They've broken many of their tail feathers doing this. I guess my question is: Is there any way to make them stop jumping off and breaking feathers?

I have this loud annoying bird behind my house, it is huge, all white same size and shape of a turkey but it's definitely not a turkey. small head with some decorative fuzzy feathers coming out the top of it. Anybody know? It's not a prarie chicken or grouse.

During the winter, feeding the little song birds, a family of 3 bunnies and a possum is so enjoyable here in Wisconsin. BUT we have a merlin hawk taking advantage of our generosity, like we are feeding/baiting them for his killing convienence. He has killed one of our cats and attacked 2 others, many little birds and bunnies have fallen victim to this lazy killer. It has swooped at my husband in the driveway and at that point, signed it's death warrant! I have called the DNR, they are protected, to a point. I have put out plastic owls and rotate them periodically, shiny things array the yard, whenever we get sunshine, they sparkle. It is full blown winter here and food is scarce for the birds who are use to feeding at our feeders~now and all year long. I can not just stop feeding them. I have bought a pellet gun and would love to blow that killer away but, by the time I spot him, open the door and take aim from the hip....he is airborn. What else can I do?It is a daily event.

I provide brown soil baught in bags for my birds. My female tiel just loves it. Every morning and night she'll wait around the soil bowl for me to add fresh soil. I use the soil to get closer to her now. It' like a treat for her. I don't see the male eating soil though. Why? She laid eggs which were infertile and I'll remove them now after a month. They are mating again. I hope the eggs will be fertile this time. It's brown soil with white pieces inbetween. Do you think it's ok for them. They also only eat certain green vegetables and they don't eat any kinds of fruit I provide. Why?

How has the market for the product (or products rather ) turned out...is it a success, I was tempted to try it here in Ireland but thought it would turn out to be a passing fad
