For the life of me I will never understand why people answer questions when they don't know what they are talking about.

Yes, turkeys are wonderful pets - provided you are on a farm or have plenty of yard for them. They are foragers and like to wander while they nibble at insects, leaves, grass stems and weeds - similar to the way horses and cows graze. Yes, they can be kept with chickens as long as the coop or yard is large enough for all of them to do the hunt, peck, scratch thing.

They can be taught to come when you call, will ride on the handlebars of your bike if you start them out early enough and love attention.

HI
It depends on what kinda pet you want. They are nice to keep like geese, as a pet my friend raised one and the turkey followed him around and it was a pet, he even had to put him in a cage when he left because it wanted to follow out of the yard. They are prone to predators if you only keep one you have to put it up at night and stuff.

YES! If other dangerous animals such as snakes make pets why can't a turkey? Don't discriminate against such a beautiful bird!!

My brother's family had turkeys they named "Thanksgiving", "Christmas" (just like Space Guy), but the third one they named "Just In Case". I've always thought a turkey should have a name like Nigel. Also, consider Benjamin, Franklin, Theodore, or Roosevelt.

Turkeys might be lovely to look at but they really are not pet material. I'm sure they would appreciate having a warm safe place to sleep and someone feeding them though. Come to think of it, most any animal would appreciate that, most would just have a larger brain.

N0, well maybe. Wild turkeys are cool. If you had one turkey, you should have two. That is a good question. I will just keep my dog as a pet and not worry about the turkey. I was married to a turkey and he was not a good pet. Does that count?

They can lay nice, large eggs, but aren't egglayers like chickens, so no they are not good pets, but they are a delight to watch in flocks and fun to watch in a yard, because of the ways they behave. The chuckle of the male is certainly entertaining! :)
