There's a potential to lay eggs at sexual maturity, around 6 to 12 months. No need for a male.

"Warning signs" would be her getting grouchy and building nesting material with paper or whatever she can shred and chew. She may become territorial and protective of her cage, or the bottom of her cage or a certain area.

If you're looking to prevent egg-laying:
The best way to deal with this is cover her cage in darkness for at least 12 hours a night and those 12 hours need to be totally silent. Monitor her food intake. Give her only the amount of food you know she will eat because knowing there's extra will suggest there's enough to feed babies. Re-arrange her cage totally. Even move it to a different room, but change everything within it too. Get new toys and new perches and swap them for every single thing in her cage right now. If her environment is unstable and changing, she won't want to have young living in these conditions in their early hatchlinghood. If you're petting her anywhere but on the head, stop. Petting on the belly, back, tail, and under the wings are especially important places to avoid touching. This stimulates her in the way a mate would and makes her think to lay more eggs again. Don't give her any places to hide or nest in her cage and avoid letting her near nesting material. If she has paper lining the bottom of her cage without a barrier between it and her, get a grate and put down so she can't reach the paper.

If you're looking to encourage it, I would advise against it. It may lead to chronic egg laying, drains calcium, exhausts the hen, and is stressful and frustrating to you and the hen.

from experience female cockatiels start laying eggs at around 8 too 12 months of age but if you are planing on breeding your cockatiel you should wait until she is at least a year old for she is still to immature mentally and physically to endure the stress of procreation any time before this. i have found increasing the duration of light per day helps to increase the chances of successful breeding. the male tends to be much more aggressive in comparison to the female. when you start to see the male approach the box and occasionally get in you are close to success
for males are the ones who choose the nest box. after a while you will start to see the male courting the female, he will soon mount her and with in about a week she will lay. the male will sit on the eggs in the day wile the female sits at night. the eggs will hatch in about 19 too 20 days.

You can find the answer in Wikipedia. But if you want someone to answer it here in yahoo I would be glad to answer it. when i was small my aunt loved taking care of Cockatiel. So I'm sure that a female Cockatiel will start laying eggs IF" the Female Cockatiel is with a male Cockatiel They have to be toghter for a while so she will get use to his company. Also you need a Nest for them so she woun't worry where to lay her eggs. But I'm pretty the age for a Female Cockatiel to start laying eggs at 1 1/2

The are physically able to lay when the are four or five months old. Ideally you would want to wait until They are 1- 1 1/2 years old. They for the most part won't lay until mated with a male and the presence of a nest box.
