We bought him from a pet store, coz the owner didn't want him/her anymore. They say he is 5 to 6 yrs old or even older. Is he trying to get off on my arm? is this good or bad? by the way, he only does it to me, coz he is wary with my husband.

I do believe he fancies you! It's OK, he is just 'choosing' who he loves. They are prone to switching loyalties though. He sees you as his 'mate' and is letting you know by making these displays.
As far as your 'human mate' goes, your little green friend will be defensive of you and may act a bit aggressive to him.
That can be avoided by your husband spending time feeding him and cleaning his cage and just socializing with the bird.
Amazons love to 'trick' you in to coming over to them for a little 'love the birdy' time, and then bite the crap out of you!
They were hatched to bite. It's a dominance feature with these birds. They actually ARE smarter than we are.

My sister had one named 'Chico' and he loved her, he also bit her.
But that didn't matter too much. He hated her 'human mate' and many years later she found out why....he had been teasing Chico, and encouraging him to bite so that she would get rid of him!
Well, she did get rid of him......the husband that is!

Your double yellow head will live to be 75 years old if cared for properly. If you know so little about parrots, you need to get more information or you will kill it. If a parrot is breathing heavily, he is excited-this does not mean sexually-and parrots can have heart attacks. Your lucky he has not bitten your face off. Get on line and learn what you can expect from your parrot and please find out how to feed him properly. Be sure you are giving vegetables and fruit on a daily basis. Some things are poisenous to birds that aren't to humans, so find out. Do you realize the responisiblity you have taken on? That animal should outlive you. The parrot wants to get off your arm because he doesn't know or trust you. They are smart animals. Please take the time to learn and you will have a terrific pet.

He may view you like a mate and become more and more defensive against others. This can pose a big problem and should be discouraged. When he presents this behaviour, give him a firm"No!" and put him in his cage for 2 minutes. Repeat as necessary and he will learn that bad behaviour cuts into play time. This might take a while. Have a tweet year.

Yes, this is very normal. Birds will do this with people that they are comfortable with and see as their mate. They can also choose a favorite pearch, toy, ladder, etc.

Just make sure that he still is comfortable with other family members so he doesn't become a one person bird.
