mine does the same thing; they see your hands as threats; the only thing you can do is bribe with treats and let him come out of the cage before you put your hands down to him and keep repeating it over and over again daily and eventually he will begin to trust you hands. he may not while hes in his cage (they can be very territorial); i have to go down to one knee and put my shoulder to the cage bottom to get mine to step up and sit on my shoulder... once i do he's ok with my hands as long as i move very slowely; just takes a lot of patience and time and understanding that even though they are somewhat big birds... your hands are bigger and they can be injured and they know that.

Put a thick sock or glove on your hand and carefully pick up your bird out of the cage. Make sure you have it's wings closed to it's side and you don't squeeze too hard just firm enough to keep him from slipping out and where it's head is exposed. Hold your bird for as long as you can talking nicely and petting it where you can. i have done this with all of my birds that I did not have from a baby and they tame down nicely. They will love the contact and having someone rub their neck. Just be careful of it's wings and you will have a tame birdie in no time.. Good luck!

He's probably still frightened. Maybe he had a bad experience with human hands at one point in his life. I would suggest placing your hand in the cage daily just so he can get use to it. After a while, put food in it and let him go to you. Then later try to pet him and then hold him. If he still bites you might want to try bird gloves.

use a glove until he learns that being handled is not a bad thing..offer treats as well. i knew someone that would spray a little water on them to stop bad behavior but first, the bird needs to trust you that no harm will come to him by picking him up
