I was told that if two males or two females were placed together one will change sex, as confirmed by their cere color (the splash of color above their beak). They will not be able to procreate, but the change in color influences the aggression level.

His name is Oscar, 16 years old and we have had for about 6 months. The original owner is a friend of ours and was unable to keep him due to health issues. At first everything was great. He came onto our finger when we said UP, we let him out several times a day for excercise, he gave kisses etc. Then one day he bit my finger, my husband started laughing and I told him to stop or it would encourage the bird to keep biting. Well, he kept biting, deep bites! Then about a month later he bit my husband, several. Now Oscar refuses to come out of his cage. He puffs up, dialates his pupils and trys to attack! We have tried everything. We don't yell at him but do say NO in a firm voice. We have never hit, shook or thrown the bird when he bit us. We have tried several things, trying to get him to come out on a gloved hand, a hand perch etc. No success. We are getting upset because he needs his nails and beak done and he needs to get excercise. We are at our wits end. Please help!

I'm frustrated. My bird won't sing. He's beautiful. When I picked him out he was the loudest one in the cage. I bought him from a man who hand raises the birds. Over 2 weeks now and I think he should have been doing something. I see he's eating and drinking his water. I had my other bird for over 2 years and he died suddenly. I miss his company. Can anyone give me any ideas??

It is raining and is staying around 60 degrees. I cannot put its Budgie companion outside to lure it because of the rain. If I put a cage outside-where should I put it-in a tree or down on a object near the house. I have been trying to keep the other bird near the window but without a second cage I can t keep it there (I need the one cage I have to put outside) I want it near the window to call out to the other one. I think it is why the escaped bird is staying closer because it can hear this one from time to time. Has even flowen towards the cottage but then overshoots into the forest on the opposite side. Once when they were calling each other it flew into our tree but was Windy. I want to at least get some food to it for a better chance of survial to try again. And it is suppose to stop raining and be warmer so I have more chance of it coming to the other bird when placed outside.

Hi, I live in WI. I have 4 other birds, but my mom and I would like to have a bunch of finches. We are looking to get about 6 or so. We don't want to pay a lot for shipping, like 30 dollars max. We would also like to breed. Thanks.

Hello,

I am interested in keeping show birds (more like show chickens) but I live in a suburban neighborhood in Phoenix and I was wondering if there are any laws or regulations out there that someone would need to be aware of? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks

Okay my dog Prince caught a bird.. I praised him for good hunting skills, but my mom yelled at him and saved the bird. Its got a broken wing and we have it in a box with newspaper and a small bowl of water. We don't have bird food on us right now. Any help or tips on how to help this bird cure? Thankyou in advance!
