There are two types of parrots wild in Cally, the Monk parakeet aka the Quaker parrot and the Cherry-head conure, possibly Mitreds. It seems a breeder lost a small group in the 80's and they have thrived. FYI, there was also a parrot from the USA called the Carolina Parakeet, looked very much like a sun or Jandy conure, but became extinct in the late 1800's.

There are lots of different parrot species around the So. California area, as well as in San Francisco, Miami, and several cities in Texas. They are escapees that used to be pets, or where in transport to be pets. They have since established wild populations. Here is a website about the So. Cal populations and the many types we get here:

The correct term is "feral" parrots. These were pet parrots once and escaped and survived and found other escapees and bred and established a feral population. Although it is possible some wild parrots came north from central America and stayed. We have lots of different feral parrots in various places in Florida.

i might be able to answer your question, see i live in the San Fran bay area, and i used to work in San Fran...
one day i was walking thru a small city block park near the Hyatt, and i heard squawking, I've had birds all my life, and i knew that squawk was a parrot of some sort...
anyways, i looked up and say about 40 all green small parrots flaying around in the trees, so naturally i went and inquired about it online...
come to find out that it was i shipment came in of parrots that was suppose to go to the SF zoo, the crate they were in broke and the parrots were released in to the city....
it seems that they have flourished there for at least the last 6 years,...
so to hopefully answer your question the parrots probably came from here in SF - to you in So Cal .
seriously...you can look it up under "parrots of san francisco"
